Back at Plainmoor again as we look to move one step closer to promotion this weekend after our excellent win against Maidenhead last night. The Gulls leapfrogged us in to 3rd place on the final day of the season and have 4 wins and 1 defeat in their last 5 matches.

Marc mentioned a potential different team for this one in the post match, but also hinted that he wouldn't change formation and would just look to outscore the Devon side. No injury news as of yet, but Dan Pybus did return to the squad for the eliminator game yesterday. Jason Prior looked to be struggling with something when he was substituted last night, but it may have just been cramp.

Predictions:

Torquay 3-1 Dorking (McCallum)

5,730 att.

                           Foulkes

         Camp          Knight          L.Vincent

  Enslin        Sidwell        F.Vincent         Lewis

                          Pinchard

                McCallum       Carter

Subs: Francomb, Pybus, Moore, Muitt, Pearson, Prior, Rutherford

Surely its Isaac Philpot from Horsham, think he still lives in South Croydon, and has more than shown he is a competent step 2 player (not least when Horsham usually beat us lol)

@dorking-eagle When he left, was it not because of the incoming changes to the training schedules? He’s a PE teacher isn’t he

We need players that are going to make a difference and ideally be starters. Excited too see who the two signings are.

5 players in discussions RE contracts, if I was to have a guess id imagine the out of contract players are Francomb, Prior, McShane, Pybus and one other.

Carter is out of contract I think too. Be desperate for him to stay but he’s 29, at his peak and there will be massive interest in him from NL clubs

There is no doubt that Carter could play at a higher level. Hes at a club that loves him and lets him play freely I hope he signs on for a few more years🤞

Yeah, Gary Smith at Radio Sussex/Surrey reckon Crawley should look at him. Charlie is a great player, but with our last-gasp escape from relegation yesterday I would prefer us to look at more experienced L2 players. We often take a risk signing many players from Non League and it so nearly cost us this season.

@hemelwanderer McShane has one year left on his contract. When he thought it was his ACL, he thought he was done. He will play next season, and I think retire at the end of it with much fanfare. I'm pretty sure Pybus has a new contract already. I've talked to him a few times over the years, and mentally he seems to be in a really good place. I thought he mentioned he was going to be around a little longer.

@robh Interesting, I done a bit of digging online and allegedly the out of contract players are;

  • Louie Annesley, George Francomb, Jordan Norville-Williams, Luke Moore, and Paul McCallum (May 31, 2026).
  • James McShane, Harry Sidwell, and Frank Vincent. (30th June)

I believe the only confirmed contracted players for next season, based on previous announcements are:

Brennan Camp

Josh Taylor

Harry Pinchard

James McShane

Seb Tauta-Caballero

Dennon Lewis

Alfie Rutherford

Jake Lawrence

Marc mentioned about looking forward to seeing Dan Gallagher next season on Sat so I assume he is as well.

And a certain "one of our own" 😉

Part of me thinks JNW may move on as I assume he wants to play higher. Possibly even Foulkes, Annesley and Carter as well. All 4 would be massive losses if so.

Personally I would move on Francomb and Pybus but sounds like Pybus might be staying put.

Not sure we'll see Knight again but could be a cheap squad depth option.

I'd be surprised if Muitt and Vincent don't sign new deals. Also, Prior said in a recent interview that he doesn't want to leave until he gets us back to National League, but we'll see if that's the case.

@calvertskans I’d keep Prior, I thought he was excellent last Wednesday and was sorely missed after coming off yesterday.

I also thought he made a huge difference when he came on against Worthing.

I wonder what the chances would be for getting Pat Casey back next season?

Would be devastating to lose JNW, Foulkes, Annesley and Carter. Agree on Francomb and Pybus. I like Pybus a lot but he’s had rotten luck with injuries since the get go.
Was Knignt only contracted till the end of the season?
