Back at Plainmoor again as we look to move one step closer to promotion this weekend after our excellent win against Maidenhead last night. The Gulls leapfrogged us in to 3rd place on the final day of the season and have 4 wins and 1 defeat in their last 5 matches.

Marc mentioned a potential different team for this one in the post match, but also hinted that he wouldn't change formation and would just look to outscore the Devon side. No injury news as of yet, but Dan Pybus did return to the squad for the eliminator game yesterday. Jason Prior looked to be struggling with something when he was substituted last night, but it may have just been cramp.

Predictions:

Torquay 3-1 Dorking (McCallum)

5,730 att.

                           Foulkes

         Camp          Knight          L.Vincent

  Enslin        Sidwell        F.Vincent         Lewis

                          Pinchard

                McCallum       Carter

Subs: Francomb, Pybus, Moore, Muitt, Pearson, Prior, Rutherford

Torquay have announced they are giving some of the Wollens Terrace to home fans and segregating it

Seperate entrances yet sharing the bar, food and toilets🤣 guessing there will be a no mans land split with stewards either side

@gary-munnery The rowdy lot stand to our right in the stand that runs the length of the pitch. Bound to be some tiktok youth in the terrace next to us though..

Story of most away games this season, came up a bit short but not for lack of trying

Players gave their all, more went off injured

Cant fault the effort by all involved, probably defended too high tbh

Pleased they fought till the end and scored 2 late on.

Proud of all involved. The ambition never stops. Hopefully the ground situation gets sorted before next season too.

I think playing a tough game on Wednesday was a significant disadvantage, the effort and commitment were there but they just ran out of steam.

Marc mentioned a returning Wanderer in the post match interview, hope its Philpott back from Horsham, he was excellent aginst us at Easter.

Disappointing end to the season, think todays game was one too many. Torquay deserved winners its a shame we only showed a bit of fight 10 minutes from the end. Still its been an enjoyable season following the Wanderers 👍🏻

In some ways, this game epitomised our season. Getting beaten away from home (as we have struggled all season), 2 players breaking down in the first 25 minutes, our lack of depth costing us and eventually coming up short.

I don’t really have many complaints about today, we lost to the better side on the day, and they seemed to have their tactics spot on to expose the space in-behind our back 3. and that’s OK. Brilliant support from the travelling Wanderers as always and let’s hope Torquay go on and win it.

In terms of the game, I don’t want to single anyone out but wonder if Marc will regret starting Kai.. the occasion seemed to be a bit much for him. We were also much better with Jase up front so losing him so early was a loss as McCallum didn’t seem 100% fit. That first half was one way traffic..!

Not sure it would have mattered so it’s not sour grapes, but 7 minutes when that stoppage of their two players colliding took about 10 on its own? And for them to score straight from the drop ball was a bit frustrating.

Lessons to be learnt from this season, onwards and upwards. Great spirit showed to get 2 goals back and make a fight of it. Also easy to forget that game for a lot of our players (Pinchard, Knight, Enslin) would have been bigger than anything they would have played in before.

Disappointing today and not unexpected. Didn’t have the legs against a fresh very good Torquay team and no complaints about the result. Not a lot else to add really that hasn’t already been said. Thought our away end was brilliant today start to finish- although shame quite  a few left at 4-0 in front of us.

Hey Ho, already looking forward to next season and seeing the comings and goings over the next couple of months

@bethdan I wonder if Bobby JT or maybe even Joe Cook might return? I thought Marc was very positive in his comments about Joe after the easter BH Worthing game.

@philrigerator Bobby has signed a new contract with Farnham. I know Briggs was released from Salisbury but doubt he’d be back. Rhys Murphy maybe but seems unlikely too. Cook would surely not drop back down after having a very good season. Philpot is a shout

Agree with the comments, @mattywanderer in particular. Torquay a very good side on their day and they exposed our patched up defence. Their centre forward was a real handful and Knight battled well again but a tough assignment for a midfielder.

It was always going to be a tough ask to match the intensity of Wednesday away from home so soon, but a lot of flicks and nudges that came off then just didn’t work out today.

Ref let the game flow as best he could but the time wasting and play acting is a pain for the fans and stops the flow of the game. Everyone does it and it is up to the refs to cut it out or play the extra time, which they rarely do.

Great effort to get 400+ there for a 1230 ko and  we contributed to what was a really good atmosphere. No problem at all with the Torquay fans. I hope they go up.
