Bit of discussion about the 26/27 squad in the other thread so thought I'd move it to it's own one. I am sure we will see a retained list in the next week or so but for now, the confirmed contracted players for next season are:

Brennan Camp

Josh Taylor (injured for the first few months)

Harry Pinchard

James McShane

Seb Tauta-Caballero

Dennon Lewis

Alfie Rutherford

Jake Lawrence

Confirmed players leaving so far:

Tony Craig (retired)

Luke Moore (retired)

Niall McManus

Who would everyone keep/release for next season?

If we really have six new players signed, just why can't we be told about them. I am not impressed with this smoke and mirrors nonsense.

As I said, I really don't think there's any smoke and mirrors going on here - some players may be under existing Contracts (or other informal agreements), and there will be other reasons too behind when announcements are made for each individual player. Standard stuff, I think.

I am pleased we know our pre-season schedule, means I can plan when I go away in the summer, which is great. DW are always good at that.

I don't think any of those 8 fixtures were announced in advance of our big announcement of the whole set of fixtures, and some of those clubs in the fixture list haven't even told their fans at all about their fixture against us yet, so their fans are getting it second hand at best!

As for the players, we know all of them anyway (or at least all but 1)!

@boa-watcher Possibly but I think Marc will wait until the season has already started before we make further additions.

Jack Wood and Jimmy Muitt can play both left or right so can cover that, and Vincent and Tauta-Caballero also offer some competition there.

Centre mid is maybe a little bit light until Josh is back, but I imagine the hope will be that Pinchard, Pybus, Gallagher, Vincent, Sullivan and even Annesley and Francomb can make do for a few months.

In terms of a target man striker, I have a feeling Marc might be moving away from that role a little bit. There was talk that we might see a few more 3-4-3 or back 4s which doesn't really suit that profile of player. Hopefully we have enough goals between Rutherford, Nikaj, Barrett, McShane and Lawrence for those positions but it wouldn't surprise me if we see another striker come in at some point during the season.

The one area that looks very light is the left of the back 3/left back position. If Sayers picks up an injury then we don't really have a like-for-like change. The likes of Francomb, Annesley, Philpot and Vincent can cover but aren't ideal.

Yes, I am sure Ade is right. Horsham and Hampton and Richmond haven't even announced their retained lists or which players have left yet. It would be inappropriate for Dorking to announce signings of their players before then. At least the clubs of the other three names mentioned  have announced they are leaving. The names have just become common knowledge before any official announcement. Although we know that Charlie Carter has left I don't know whether he has signed for Crawley or not for example, because no one has mentioned this on the Crawley forum although there are members closer to the club than me.

Well, this is all a bit disappointing. I thought we were promised a signing on Sunday, which is why I hoped there would be news today at 6pm. Sorry, but I am not bothered about what kit we are wearing next season.

The season has only just finished - have a little patience!

Besides, I've heard at least one of the signings will be unveiled in the next 24 hours - one that's already been named on the forum.

The club might have also been a bit hasty with the retained/released list.

Yep, widely known as "The Cat". Let's hope he is still as agile. He was still playing for Gillingham last season (over 30 appearances).

Gillingham fans had nothing but praise for Morris when it was announced on twitter he would be leaving them. Seems to of been a real fan favourite. My only gripe is we will need to look for another GK in a season or 2

Also a legend with us Crawley fans being with us 6-7 seasons and Player of the Season 2-3 times. One of the best keepers we have had in EFL Also won Player of Season at Gillingham one year. Only question is how long he can keep playing.

Assume he will be No1 as Marc prefers to have only 1 keeper in the squad, and use the emergency loan market if need be.

Provides some much needed experience as well seeing as we lost TC, Moore, Prior, Carter, McManus.
