A visit to one of the oldest football grounds in the world this Saturday as we make the relatively short trip over to Berkshire to face Maidenhead United. The Magpies have had a solid enough first season back at step 2, as they sit 7th in the table on 62 points and have 3 wins from their last 5 games.

Not much to report on from the weekly update, with the only real injury news being that Sam Pearson should be fine for the game. A few others, including Camp, will be assessed in training today.

Predictions:

Maidenhead 1-1 Dorking (Pearson)

1,397 att.

                                  Foulkes

              Annesley         Craig           L.Vincent

  Enslin      McManus      Pybus      Pinchard       Lewis

                          Carter        Pearson

Subs: Camp, Knight, Sullivan, Sidwell, F.Vincent, Rutherford, McCallum

Tough to predict a line-up for this one without knowing the fitness of the likes of McCallum, Prior and Rutherford. Not many defensive options in the squad either if Camp isn't fit for this one, so we might see an academy defender included on the bench.

Looks like there is about jack shit in the starting 11 in terms of goals for us, very weak in terms of goalscorers.

I think the boys will come in at half time 1-0 down.

Full time is either 2-0 Maidenhead or 1-1, depends on what transpires through the game.

PMac and Carter both carrying, hopefully one or both can come on to get us the goals we need as that back line is not keeping a clean sheet lets face it.

Not being funny but is anyone looking at Alfie.

Has not been the same since the injury.

Scored only 2 all season in a team with the highest XPG in the league. Yet somehow its hush hush, that he is now worse than a 108 year old JP.

Sentiment only gets you so far.

@jacksonfairweather do you seriously think Alfie has 2 goals or season or just being a moron?

At least a lot of our rivals lost too, including Hornchurch. With their game in hand, Hemel  Hempstead, now our nearest rival and will be vital game next week.

Another disappointing away performance where we simply did not look like scoring. Only 6 away wins all season so far thank god for the home form. Onto another two tough games against Torquay and Hemel

I thought the first half performance was excellent again. Dominated possession and created a few good situations. TC hit post and Pearson could have set up Alfie once or twice.

Second half was disappointing though; Kai didn't produce much of quality and chances were few and far between.
But a good day out in the sun, still 6 points clear with players to come back. But tough games to come too.

First half was really decent I thought, should’ve scored a couple before the broke away and scored. Their keeper taking nearly a minute on goal kicks was a joke.
Second half just couldn’t get going and they scored a decent second.
If Marc fails his appeal, how long will his touchline ban be?

If Marc just told ref he was not good enough, you would hope just a one match ban but you never know with the FA.

Confession time: I did vote for a Dorking loss. With both full‑backs out, I honestly thought we’d be in all sorts of trouble and completely lose our balance. Hands up on that one.

First half though — superb. Totally dominated. And I’m not blaming either of them because Pearson’s barely been here five minutes, but if him and Alfie had a bit more understanding of each other’s game, we’d have been out of sight by half‑time.

Second half was a different story. Only my second visit to Maidenhead, but I’m always surprised they choose to go up the hill second half. Maybe the ball is easier to control going uphill, who knows. Either way, we looked lost after the break.

One theory I heard yesterday that might actually have some weight: three of our below‑par performances have been on grass — Chesham, D&R, and Maidenhead. Is grass becoming a problem for us?

Any from yesterday I thought actually as a leader Tony Criag had a good game and Annesley seem to pop up high up the pitch. And Enslin with our tails up in the first half looked unplayable at times - his future will be worth following!

Marc’s red card does worry me. In Marc we trust, of course, but even if you believe his choirboy version of events, the FA usually backs their man. Hopefully it’s just the one‑match ban people are predicting. But however long it ends up being, here’s a slightly wild thought: do we let Tony Craig step into the blood‑and‑thunder motivator role on the touchline, and let the rest of the coaching team handle the tactical side?

I think Tony Craig will be a great manager one day, and it would be a good idea to give him a role in the management team when he retires. The Crawley players once voted him the most likely to be a successful manager. However, with our current injuries in defence, and Annesley possibly being absent on International duty, we need him on the pitch for the time being.

@epsomwanderer I think I was stood next to you in the first half? I was with my son and we commented on how tall they were compared to us.
Id heard about that pitch in the past , really is all over the place isn’t it
