I’ve often thought that, as it’s not a secret how bad it is 

Feel gutted for Harry, Marc and the club. What a blow. After what has been a mediocre start, Dan G setback and more injuries this is the worst possible news to get. We as fans will still continue to support the boys come rain or shine. 

I think as has been discussed at length and I’m sure we are all bored of it by now the current situation of injuries is untenable.

There clearly isn’t one singular issue, likely a combination of multiple variables including: training, fitness/conditioning, signing injury prone players, and of course the pitch. We can address and we seem to be actively addressing the first two, with previous statements on boots being worn, load management and sharing knowledge with Charlton. Yet the other two are of course glaring.

I know a few of us were surprised to see Pybus and Francomb return despite regularly missing games. I appreciate what AdeB is saying, until the lease deal is secured the pitch is out of our hands, yet I agree with Tom that as a club we can’t progress until it’s gone, it’s an injury trap. Why, indeed, aren’t we training at Reigate? Is there an external expert who can help come up with solutions to make the existing surface safer?

It’s totally reasonable to make the argument the pitch has contributed towards our relegation from the National League and us missing out on promotion the last two years. Even if those injuries are all caused by other factors, the distrust of the pitch is so strong that it simply can’t remain.

I seem to recall an opposition player had a serious injury there a few years back, and we have had: Macca, Alfie, Briggs, Taylor, and now Forster all rupture their ACLs at Meadowbank. A fair few MCLs too in that time. Someone in a charity match also ruptured their knee there last year. I don’t recall any of our players in the past 4 years suffering similar injuries away from home.

Even if you can’t prove causation, everyone seems to be aligned that we cannot continue exposing players to a surface with this history and this level of distrust. Priority 1 when the lease is secured is ripping it up.

My understanding is that Reigate Grammar is rock hard from the long dry summer. 

The club has rebuilt the physio dept and got new strength and conditioning expertise

But it's absolutely impossible to do anything with the injury list permanently like the Somme

The whole pre-season was like playing on egg shells, sacrificing results because we were so scared of giving anyone 10 minutes too long

This has to be our season, the investors are all in place, the ground is on course to massively become as asset to the club, every part of the club is ambitious but the pitch is absolutely dangerous and costing us - look at the players we are missing, it's insane

Most of all I feel for the players physically injured because of it - the bottom line is it's young men's playing careers and people's physical health at risk.

For those that missed the removed post match interview, MW said that we are crying out for defenders and if any are unhappy at their current clubs then they should reach out

Yes, Lucas Rodrigues of Horsham in virtually the first match on the pitch in pre-season and 2 opposition players according to Dom. Marc also said Forster could be out for 18 months which is really bad news for Harry.

Spoke to Josh Taylor yesterday, hopefull Dan Gallagher will have an injection on his lower back in the next week which will be a step in the right direction
