Bit of discussion about the 26/27 squad in the other thread so thought I'd move it to it's own one. I am sure we will see a retained list in the next week or so but for now, the confirmed contracted players for next season are:

Brennan Camp

Josh Taylor (injured for the first few months)

Harry Pinchard

James McShane

Seb Tauta-Caballero

Dennon Lewis

Alfie Rutherford

Jake Lawrence

Confirmed players leaving so far:

Tony Craig (retired)

Luke Moore (retired)

Niall McManus

Who would everyone keep/release for next season?

Isaac Philpott, Charlie Sayers LB from Hampton and Richmond, Jack Wood winger from Walton & Hersham and George Nikaj forward from Dover are the names doing the rounds atm

Glenn Morris, former Gillingham goalkeeper

If Charlie is off would we get any compensation for him and does anyone know where? I heard Crawley a week or so back could be a landing spot.

Wasn't sure what the etiquette was on just straight up revealing the new signings but the cat is out of the bag now I guess 🤣

Happy with all the new signings (+Barrett). Philpot obviously knows how we play and fills that Tony Craig void. Nikaj is an excellent forward who had a very good debut year in the NLS with 20+ G/A. Sayers will probably be a JNW replacement and Hampton fans seemed to love him. Jack Wood is a really good young player who was a standout for W&H last season.

I hadn't heard about Morris yet but by all accounts he is still a very good keeper and could still play for Gills.

I am personally very pleased / excited to see the new signings. Doing our business early doors shows the intent for next season

When Glenn Morris initially came to Crawley 10 years ago, he initially came as a player/coach. 43 in December, so not sure if he would play much if came but was still playing for Gillingham. Could he be becoming as a goalkeeper coach - do we have one?

@steve1966 didn’t Mike Bassett say… “if you’re old enough… you’re good enough”.

Shame Charlie is leaving but he really gave it everything while he was here and has earned the step up with no begrudgement from me at all. Good luck to him, always a Wanderer.

Confirmed Carter is leaving. New club not mentioned but had many offers.

Gutted Charlie is leaving but he departs as a Wanderers legend, what a player he deserves his move.

Now we have the captains vacancy going for me there is only one player who should fill that role, Brennan Camp a true Wanderers warrior

The captaincy decision is actually quite tough as a few candidates but no real standout.

Rutherford has had it a fair bit in Carter's absence and McShane as well but neither feel like proper captains to me. The likes of Taylor, Gallagher, Philpot and Prior could take it but not sure they are guaranteed starters at the moment.

Brennan Camp might not be a bad shout actually.

I was thinking about the new captain last night, Camp was the only one I could think of that is in that mould and would play every game if fit and available.
