Bit of discussion about the 26/27 squad in the other thread so thought I'd move it to it's own one. I am sure we will see a retained list in the next week or so but for now, the confirmed contracted players for next season are:
Brennan Camp
Josh Taylor (injured for the first few months)
Harry Pinchard
James McShane
Seb Tauta-Caballero
Dennon Lewis
Alfie Rutherford
Jake Lawrence
Confirmed players leaving so far:
Tony Craig (retired)
Luke Moore (retired)
Niall McManus
Who would everyone keep/release for next season?
I would not expect the 6th name to be announced for a while. His current club have not yet announced their retained and released list and tend not to do so until early/mid June.
It has been confirmed that Jason Prior is definitely leaving.
Brilliant send off video. I’m sure we’ll see him rock up at Meadowbank next season for someone else
Whilst of course i don’t know the ins and outs and what he was offered etc i’m a little underwhelmed to be honest ngl.
The farewell sounded like we were letting him go to spread his wings with the clubs that seemed to be lining up to sign him in the EFL or the top of the national league not a team who only finished 19th in the league above!
Obviously wish him the best but yeah, interesting one.
@mattywanderer Agree sideways move imo but they are professional and in the league above. Wish him all the best though
Sutton United weren't exactly great in the NL last season, to be honest that's a pretty rubbish move. We were led to believe he had a tableful of offers....maybe that's Marc being a marketing man and talking up someone who really did his best for the club, which I guess is decent, but surely you'd go somewhere like Crawley if you believe in yourself?
Wish Charlie all the best but we could well be facing him the season after this one if all goes well at the Wanderers.

I was surprised as it’s not much a move up really, and I doubt they’ll be challenging for promotion. Was really expecting him to get a League 2 offer!
I’ll be following their results to see how he gets on
JP9 has gone to Portchester! Is that Step 4?
Yes that is Step 4, a big drop in standard. I only assume it is local, and part-time allowing JP to spend more time on other work.
With Carter, perhaps near area grew up, and knew manager was attraction. Maybe intention is for Sutton to compete better this season? Thought he may go to L2, but maybe he thought too big step?
Sutton had some magical times during their 3 seasons in the EFL, but those days are gone now and as much as I like Charlie I think even mid table in the NL would be a good season for them, it's such a tough league with all the travelling too, and so competitive!
I absolutely wish Jason all the very best, what a person, what a career, I hope he has every success and can go on for a lot longer too.

I hope Foulkes joins a League 2 or high end NL side. Seen few rumours linking him to Worthing of all teams🙄
@hemelwanderer Yes I’ve only seen him linked with Worthing but most of those have been hopeful Worthing fans. Think he’d end up back in the NLS in a year or two if he went there
Like previous seasons, feel we are heavy in midfield, but still light up front and at back.
Feel we probably need another central defender in addition to the one rumored to be coming. Vincent, Francomb and Gallagher could also provide cover. Up front feel need another striker, although McShane can cover. Also need another goalkeeper, although know Marc prefers to rely on emergency keepers.
Feel squad of 21 is slightly too low, if we seriously intend to challenge for top 3, and lack of depth in defence and attack cost us last season.
I agree that we are missing one player. As far as I can see, we have no number 9, but two no 10s. It looks like wing play is covered, but I would love a JP9 in the middle to reach them.
