Just thought it might be fun to see what others are making of this World Cup...something to occupy us before the friendlies start...(can't wait)

FWIW for me;

Most impressed by - Morrocco, Saudi Arabia, Senegal (first half, lovely football), the referees

Disappointed by - Spain, Netherlands, Uruguay and the always overrated Brazil

Absolutely hate - 'hydration breaks' - shameless profiteering squeezing some ads in and killing any momentum

Relieved by - VAR - hardly had an impact - don't know how they are managing it but we seem to avoid the ridiculous delays and over analysis that it usually brings

Not surprised by - loads of rich fans at the games, it's pretty obvious the vast majority are very, very well off. Working class, they aint.

Frustrated by - constant linking of players to relatively obscure English clubs - kills any remaining mystery and magic very quickly

My hope - an outsider wins it - maybe an African or Asian nation, that would be something. And Austria make it to the knock outs.

Looking like FIFA are employing some common sense (with the handy excuse of a forecast electrical storm) and bringing ko forward to 7pm UK time

Mexicans can still see it on Sunday lunchtime, and Europe (especially England!) gets to watch it primetime before the Brazil game.

Pubs here rammed, school teachers happy, police not throwing a huge strop. Only downside is of course the actual fans out there having to hastily change their travel plans, but hopefully that can be done, it's the only thing on those people's agendas, so hopefully the travel providers are all flexible on that front.

It's coming home!

The pending KO change is music to my ears, on paper I reckon its got the potential to be a corker of a game

Well the promise of the KO change was short lived. Looks like both Mexico and England have complained and FIFA have u-turned and kept it the same.

Well, what a game vs Mexico. I am so glad that I watched it live, although the hour delay meant I am so tired today. But I don't regret it one bit as that is one of the greatest World Cup games I have seen.

On a separate note, I am furious that the orange man in the USA is getting red cards overturned. If this is allowed to stand, where does this leave us? Strong countries will use their muscle to force weak officials to change decisions. I hope Belgium get through against the US.

Yes it is a disgrace that Trump got involved. Political intervention has no place in football. I can't believe the American media got involved too saying he was being penalized twice for being sent off (it is normal to be suspended next game).

Like many others I will be supporting Belgium against the Americans.

Agree game was really good, and we defended our lead really well and two good goals by Bellingham. I did not watch it live, but watched the morning re-run instead ensuring i did not check news or phone beforehand.

Has anyone watched the games at the club? How has it been? Still space there for tonight it seems. Might save it for the final myself 😬

Disappointing last 20 minutes last night. Argentina are great from winning from losing in the last 20 minutes, and never give up attacking. So what do we do, put 5 or 6 defenders on the pitch, give up the midfield and let Argentina have a go at us. The changes must have given them so much confidence. Fine shutting up shop 5 minutes from end, against lesser teams but wrong tactic last night.
