Bit of discussion about the 26/27 squad in the other thread so thought I'd move it to it's own one. I am sure we will see a retained list in the next week or so but for now, the confirmed contracted players for next season are:
Brennan Camp
Josh Taylor (injured for the first few months)
Harry Pinchard
James McShane
Seb Tauta-Caballero
Dennon Lewis
Alfie Rutherford
Jake Lawrence
Confirmed players leaving so far:
Tony Craig (retired)
Luke Moore (retired)
Niall McManus
Who would everyone keep/release for next season?
@calvertskans Yeah, saw that. He seems to have aged somewhat...and appears a little heavier... 🤔
He is a funny guy. But if he carries on playing and does not get injured again he is levelling out at Isthmian Prem level. He is a bit of an a-hole to deal with and NLS teams wont put up with that to play a ball carrying CB.
He’s been getting so much stick online for various reasons. I’ve not seen any of it but he’s probably best off getting out of there
Braintree set to receive a £175,000 payment from FIFA due to defender Tommy Smith being selected for NZ at the World Cup.
Pretty much saves them from relegation as they can lift their transfer ban now.

That is crazy, but I am happy for Braintree, they are up against it financially (have you seen the state of their website!!! 🤣 ) but nobody should want to see a club financially hamstrung.

Former Wanderer Wes Fogden has joined Weymouth
In Harrison Foulkes Insta stories, he’s hinted at what club he’s joining and going by the comments it appears it could be Boreham Wood
@calvertskans Foggy is the Peter Pan of non-league!

Jordan Norville Williams has gone to Yeovil
At least it's better than Sutton United I suppose

@dorking-eagle That’s a good move for JNW, was wondering where he’d end up. I did think he might get a L2 move
Darren Oldaker moves to Southend United.
Harrison Male heavily linked with a move to Carlisle.

Unexpected one for Oldaker at 27, in his prime, to move backwards at this stage. Played a season at Chesterfield in L2 moved on, played a good part of last season at Swindon in L2 and moved on again. Both sides competing at the upper echelons of L2.
He is now down back at NLP level with no guarantees of returning to L2 football. Southend will not be in contention to go up next season by the looks of it in a league dominated by Northern teams.
Does anyone know when the squad numbers will be released? I have pre ordered my son a shirt with 10 and Rutherford but now am slightly concerned he may change to 9 and allow Barrett to have the 10.
@tommywilms10 I would be amazed if Alfie gave up the number 10 shirt. He's had it for years and I would be surprised if Barrett came in demanding it. I think Nikaj will take 9 and Barrett probably somewhere in the 16-19 range.
Interestingly, our first season back in the NLS, we annonced our full squad list and shirt numbers by mid-May. There could be another signing or two on the way which might be why we haven't released numbers yet.
I noticed that the away friendly at Bognor is a 13.00 kick off, which is strange, is that to avoid any world Cup games?
@calvertskans thanks, that’s put my mind at ease. I did think Alfie has always been 10 and wonder if Barrett will take on the 16. The other kids went for camp and muitt and I think they are pretty safe choices
