Dorking Wanderers enter the Trophy in Round 2 proper (along with all other step 2 sides), and the draw for it is on Monday

If the format follows as per last season then the region we would be in for Round 2 will be a pretty huge one across the whole of the South

This would potentially mean facing one of the long list of teams below:

Sittingbourne or Cray Valley PM

Real Bedford or Ashford United

Brentwood Town or Welling United

Leatherhead or Canvey Island

AFC Sudbury or Leiston

Wingate & Finchley or Cheshunt

Stanway Rovers or Harrow Borough

Tilbury or Hadley

Waltham Abbey or Chatham Town

Billericay Town or Bishop's Stortford

St Albans City or Hanwell Town

Burgess Hill Town or Folkestone Invicta

Walton & Hersham or Hendon

Bracknell Town or Banbury United

Basingstoke Town or Dorchester Town

Plymouth Parkway or Poole Town

Wimbourne Town or AFC Portchester

Gloucester City or Havant & Waterlooville

Farnham Town or Bishop's Cleeve

PLUS the whole of the National League South(24)

I believe last year some of the teams north of the M25 such as Hemel, Chelmsford, etc were put in the midlands/northern section so we might avoid them at least.

You are right, Hemel got Aveley and Chelmsford got Peterborough Sports.

So it is possible that Sudbury / Leiston could be bumped north too.

I do wonder what could be the most 'money spinning' tie for DW - Torquay away perhaps, although if taking out travel costs before splitting the gate receipts, it might actually be better to have someone nearer like Maidstone?

I would groan if we got to face Tommy Widdrington  again (Eastbourne Borough) or of course Horsham 😩

I think we will want a home tie against the lowest ranked/easiest possible side rather than think about money at this stage? Thing is, much as I love the Trophy (and Marc does too I think), many clubs (especially those who've been to Wembley) might see it as a pain in the arse - and that usually means the biggers sides (next round) and smaller crowds at the earlier rounds.

Burgess Hill Town at home please if they get through (actually away might be quite fun too)

In this round it's literally either National League South grounds that we've all been to (plus Totton I guess), then a whole load of teams from lower levels. There's no glamour big stadium that we haven't been to before.

Anyway a revised list of the lower teams...

Sittingbourne

Real Bedford

Brentwood

Leatherhead

AFC Sudbury

Cheshunt

Harrow Borough

Tilbury

Chatham Town

Bishops Stortford

Hanwell Town

Folkestone Invicta

Plymouth Parkway

Wimbourne Town

Gloucester City

Farnham Town

(NB - Essex teams might not be in our part of the draw)

You know me Steve, I want an away ground I haven't been to before. The game will be played on Sat 15 November a weekend with no Palace game at all (it's 'International weekend') so top of my list would be Plymouth Parkway away, for a weekend in Devon combined with visiting family in Paignton.

Other ones that catch my eye are Folkestone Invicta (Jack Jebb is there!!!) or Gloucester City - I didn't do Folkestone in the Isthmian league and Gloucester away in the FA Cup in 2018 was played at Evesham's Jubilee Stadium before they moved back to Meadow Park in 2020

I have nothing against going to Leatherhead or Farnham, but we go to those grounds a lot, so for me I want to break new ground personally.

What about you Steve, got your eye on anything in particular? (don't say Horsham lol)

@dorking-eagle Real Bedford or Tilbury really appeal to me. If it has to be Leatherhead or Farnham so be it.

Would rather avoid the teams in our league but honestly don't mind who we draw at this stage. A new ground would be preferable though.

Wimbourne Town away for me.

Weirdly enough, wouldn't mind Leatherhead away either, not been since the mid-nineties when Aldershot played there (absolute chaoes, as I recall)

😮

We play there every other year Ade, plus been occasional additional midweek friendlies when the squad needed a run out!

That said, the Trophy game there in 2019 was a classic for Wanderers supporters 🤩

** GROAN  **

What are the chances that Tommy Widdrington knocks us out of both cups this season 😖

A repeat of our 2nd round draw from last year! Very dull and not as straight forward as their league position would suggest.
