Dorking Wanderers enter the Trophy in Round 2 proper (along with all other step 2 sides), and the draw for it is on Monday

If the format follows as per last season then the region we would be in for Round 2 will be a pretty huge one across the whole of the South

This would potentially mean facing one of the long list of teams below:

Sittingbourne or Cray Valley PM

Real Bedford or Ashford United

Brentwood Town or Welling United

Leatherhead or Canvey Island

AFC Sudbury or Leiston

Wingate & Finchley or Cheshunt

Stanway Rovers or Harrow Borough

Tilbury or Hadley

Waltham Abbey or Chatham Town

Billericay Town or Bishop's Stortford

St Albans City or Hanwell Town

Burgess Hill Town or Folkestone Invicta

Walton & Hersham or Hendon

Bracknell Town or Banbury United

Basingstoke Town or Dorchester Town

Plymouth Parkway or Poole Town

Wimbourne Town or AFC Portchester

Gloucester City or Havant & Waterlooville

Farnham Town or Bishop's Cleeve

PLUS the whole of the National League South(24)

I believe last year some of the teams north of the M25 such as Hemel, Chelmsford, etc were put in the midlands/northern section so we might avoid them at least.

You are right, Hemel got Aveley and Chelmsford got Peterborough Sports.

So it is possible that Sudbury / Leiston could be bumped north too.

I do wonder what could be the most 'money spinning' tie for DW - Torquay away perhaps, although if taking out travel costs before splitting the gate receipts, it might actually be better to have someone nearer like Maidstone?

I would groan if we got to face Tommy Widdrington  again (Eastbourne Borough) or of course Horsham 😩

I think we will want a home tie against the lowest ranked/easiest possible side rather than think about money at this stage? Thing is, much as I love the Trophy (and Marc does too I think), many clubs (especially those who've been to Wembley) might see it as a pain in the arse - and that usually means the biggers sides (next round) and smaller crowds at the earlier rounds.

Burgess Hill Town at home please if they get through (actually away might be quite fun too)
