Final home game of the regular season this weekend as we face Bath City at Meadowbank. The Romans have had a tough season and their relegation to the Southern League was confirmed this week as they lost 2-1 away at Totton.

Marc confirmed that Pinchard and McCallum will return this weekend, but Camp is now a big doubt as he awaits the result of a disciplinary trial due to an incident with a Horsham fan on Boxing Day...

A win will confirm our place in the play-offs unless Worthing drop points away at Maidstone, in which case the title will go down to the final game of the season next weekend.

Predictions:

Dorking 3-2 Bath City (Prior, Carter, Pearson)

2,879 att.

                           Foulkes

       Francomb       Knight      Norville-Williams

 Enslin        Pinchard           Sidwell            Lewis

                             Carter

                      Prior        Pearson

Subs: Fulco, F.Vincent, Sullivan, Moore, McManus, McCallum, Lawrence

Surely we win this one but can see a goal for the Romans. 3-1 Carter, Lewis and Camp if he’s playing

Just so gut wrenching again. Going from 8 points clear to possibly not even making the playoffs if results go against us next week.

Lack of defenders has killed us somewhat today, and compounded by yet more injuries to JNW and Knight. JNW looks done for the season?
Thought we looked decent today though, just didn’t take the chances. Pinchard was excellent and I thought Enslin had his best game in a while.
Im not sure how next week will go but just have to hope Marc and the team can find something from somewhere and get a positive result

@gary-munnery Spot on, Gary.

Our defence is so threadbare and it showed.

We simply could not/cannot sustain that level of missing / overworked players - yet still we should have won it comfortably, with 8-10 clear chances. Which again, maybe not surprising as we have no real finishers in the team atm.

At the moment I don't honestly think we'd win the play offs if we only had to play Enfield and Eastbourne, we concede some real sucker punch goals.

Would love to go up just because it's a brilliant league with such a great variety of clubs and places to visit, but it would need a huge summer rebuild if somehow we manage it.

Unfortunately it was to be expected. We are so short of confidence at the moment. The positive is that Pinchard was excellent, popping up on both sides, and some of his passing was brilliant. We really need to build the team around him next season. I felt sorry for George Knight. He seemed unsure whether he was playing in a back three or a back four. I thought Prior was poor. Very slow and missed a couple of relatively easy chances which a couple of years ago he would have buried.

Gutted. Somehow discovering new ways to concede 🤣. No excuses - too profligate yet again in front of goal. No way to sugar coat it but wow, what a collapse. Regardless of injuries, we still have a good team out there against a relegated side. Thought once we equalised we would go on to win but if anything Bath looked the better side from that point on.

So poor both in front of goal and struggling to find a man with crosses all game.

Whilst there is a bit of randomness with the last 4 results, I do feel a bit shellshocked about what has happened from the position we were in.

Let’s hope for a result at Weston and a spot in the playoffs, which at this point feels far from guaranteed!

Lessons to be learnt this season, for sure.

Totally shocked we have thrown away the title so weakly, by losing 4 in a row. Thought we were better than that. Squad needs a overhaul in the summer, and need more defenders and attackers to cope with possible injuries in future. Also really need to analyse why we get much more bad injuries than other teams.

Appreciate we have had horrendous injuries, but thought we would have got at least 4 points over the last 4 games, as 2 were against mid table teams and one against a relegated team. 4 points from the last 4 games was all we needed to be top tonight.

4 games ago we beat Hemel 2-1 and looked dead certs to finish in the top 2. Fast forward 3 weeks and we are now in danger of falling out the playoffs altogether 😑 Hope we have enough to get us over the line at Weston

can't believe how bad this capitulation has been, same old story every season with injuries and no one who can put the ball in the back of the net.

It was a bizarre game. A bit like Totton - all the ball, enough chances, but some poor moments at the back and clinical finishing from opponents. I can't remember losing 4 games on the spin before - and what a time to do it. Even with the injuries, there was enough quality on the pitch to win that. Final ball lacked quality at times; brilliant saves; poor finishing.

I don't see us winning a play off game if we do make it through in the end. And as others have said, no bad thing to have another season at this level to get the ground sorted and the squad refreshed. The ground bursts at the seams when there are over 3,000 and hosting 500 away fans is still a challenge. So I have made my peace with this season. Taking the positives, as they say, in some good signings and an ability to plug gaps at short notice when necessary.  But certainly a wasted opportunity this season - 84 points might still be enough and we should certainly have hit that mark.

Is there any suggestion that the club is looking to improve the spectator accommodation at Meadowbank though?

I know we want to buy out Surrey FA, which is due to be dealt with within the next 2 months, but there are no plans in to do anything physical to the ground AFAIK

I actually thought the team played pretty well on the whole but Jason Prior was dreadful (Paul Mac not much better either when he came on). So many chances, didn't even hit the target in the majority. Enslin was excellent in the build and work rate I thought but looks like he'd actually ever be able to finish a chance (and has been that way since he joined). Pearson and Pinchard are outstanding and I still think they both have another level, I think our playoff hopes rest on them, and having Pat Casey back to score some goals. Failing that we have to play Charlie Carter up top otherwise we're never going to score.

In reality, could we win two home play-off games? Possibly.

Could we win three away play-off games? Not a chance. (Hope I am wrong of course, but I am being a realist here)

Even if we got put directly in a home playoff final I wouldn't have much expectation on us to be honest. Not unless an absolute miracle happens in that medical room over the next week or so.

The stats are ridiculous for this one...

Possession: Dorking 70% - 30% Bath - 3rd highest of the season

Shots (OT): Dorking 26 (12) - 7 (4) Bath - Highest of the season. Only game I can find higher ever was Chelmsford (H) last year.

xG: Dorking 4.19 - 1.32 Bath - I think this is our highest ever on record. Only game I reckon probably had more was the 8-0 Havant game.

Crosses: Dorking 61 - 5 Bath - An absurd number. Again, this might be our highest ever. More than the Aveley away game last season.

Duels: Dorking 67% - 33% Bath - Highest of the season

Passes: Dorking 486 - 200 Bath

Top Performer (Dorking): Kai Enslin [9.0] - Opposition keeper got a 9.8 rating which I believe is the highest we've faced this season from a keeper

Also the first time we've lost 4 in a row since Oct 2023, although one of those was an FA Cup game. Last time we lost 4 league games in a row was the end of the curtailed 2019/20 season.
