Dorking Wandering
The Dorking Wanderers FC Fans Forum
A trip to Woodside Road awaits tomorrow as we face high-flying rivals Worthing. The Rebels currently sit one spot above us in 2nd on 45 points, albeit with a game in hand. Worthing are another side that host a few ex-Wanderers, including Joe Cook and Sam Beard, however Nicky Wheeler recently retired.
Not expecting much change on the injury front as Muitt, Moore, Rutherford, Norville-Williams and Taylor are all still expected to miss the game.
Predictions:
Worthing 2-1 Dorking (Carter)
2,721 att.
Foulkes
Camp Storey Annesley
Lewis Pybus Gallagher Vincent
Young
Prior Carter
Subs: Craig, Francomb, McManus, McShane, Hebert, Casey, Lawrence
Feels harsh to leave out Casey but I don't see how he gets in the side from the start with Prior, Carter and Young unless he decides to leave one of Gallagher or Pybus out.
3-1 home win i think unfortunately. Carter for us .
Worthing (1) 2 Dorking W (0) 2 Young, Casey
3,002 (458 Wanderers)
Expecting a very tough game with Worthing in great form atm. That said I reckon it will be a draw and in all fairness I would take a point. 1-1
Going to be massively up against it facing a Worthing team on very strong form
I'll be happy with a battling draw and no injuries - 1-1 (Casey)

Our away form has been pretty ropey all season and odds are against being rescued by wonder goals again. Agree that no injuries would be good. Worthing 2 DW 0
Game that had a bit of everything. Dorking started very brightly and had numerous shots first half. Did feel when Worthing went forward they were more direct and quicker.
If only that shot hadn't hit the crossbar at the end of the 2nd half as we would have gone in 3-2 up!
2nd half Worthing had the upper hand, and our subs didn't quite match the levels of the players they replaced, but Heberts header came close, and it definitely looked like a penalty at the end with the drag back, which was really unsporting play.
Away end a bit less crowded than last season, and a record attendance of 3.7k for Worthing (only here for the Dorking!)
Absolute morons the other side of the segregation though, throwing drink at our fans, and being antagonistic throughout. These are the same idiots who randomly turned up at Dorking v Torquay earlier this season purely to have a fight. Why on earth Worthing don't ban them I have no idea, they add nothing and are just one huge negative, and will give that club a widespread bad name.

When Worthing do that segregation, why cant they put some sort of black plastic sheeting across the fenced divide, that way fans attention is straight forward at the pitch rather than looking across at the oppo fans!

First trip to Worthing for me, nice little ground. Got in quite early to grab a decent spot before it filled up. Shame about the scrawny dickheads to the side of us just looking for trouble, I’m sure they’ll turn up to the reverse fixture and the club needs to be aware of that outside of Meadowbank, like the Torquay game when there were groups running around St Martin’s Walk .
First half we were really good and should’ve had 3 or 4 but we’ve gifted them their goals. Second half they just stepped it up and we tired , and they could’ve had another 3 or 4 if it wasn’t for Harrison or poor finishing. Thought the ref had a very poor second half and didn’t give us anything. The injury time penalty shout I wasn’t really sure at the time, looked at first glance to start outside the box but carried on in
@dorking-eagle Yes I thought that. I glanced across a few times before and during game. Many of them just had their faces up against the fence trying to goad anyone who looked at them. Bunch of teens trying to act hard
The fact that the ref went to the lino to get a second opinion tells you he wasn't keeping up with the speed of play and only giving a red was the safe option. The drag back started outside but kept pulling into the box.

As good as Dorking were in the first half they were as poor in the second. Couldn't string a few passes together, and seemed camped in our own half for much of the second half. Credit to Worthing who did a job on us after the interval. It was a stonewall penalty. The officials did a proper bottle job and you could see that was going to happen from the length of time they were discussing what to do. Yes the first contact happens outside the box, but the act of dragging him to the ground is inside the box. It's a penalty end of .
What we do know is that Patrick Casey is an absolute talent and we are very lucky to have him for the rest of the season (all being well and Charlton don't recall him!)
Seen Marc's post match interview. Makes a very valid point around why on earth Worthing would want those juvenile fans lierally goading the away dugout for a couple of hours. Primarily they stand where they do for segregated games to antagonise the segregated away fans, but having a personality opposition manager is added red meat for them. It's literally the antics of 9 year olds who get excited at repeatedly calling people swear words without any consequences. There is of course the angle of why should the away fans have to put up with it too though just to watch the game alongside our families? I think you have to go back to Eastleigh away when a club did so little to stop such a persistent annoyance.

I think if we are capable of outplaying probably the favourites for the title (first half) and with half a side still missing, we are going to do ok this season - feeling optimistic tbh!
As for those dickheads, I just find it laughable tbh. Interesting that a few older Dorking lot went over and 'challenged' them at one point and they didn't seem quite so tough! But yes, a simple piece of black cloth sorts that (but not the dugout issue) - and I loved Marc calling this all out.
