@mattywanderer I think Nikaj in particular looks a good player, at least on the deck. His movement is good and he has good touch and pace. Surely those coaches can teach him the heading technique of keeping the ball down? Sayers has been solid so far I think, but we miss someone who is really comfortable in striding out from the back with the ball. Agree on Pinchard and I hope you are right on Wood. Interested to see the stats on his crosses so far this season.

Thanks @WestSussexWanderer - I may have missed his successful dribbles then. And he is solid defensively. But I would have Lewis in the team every day of the week. 

Sofascore plays fast and loose with the definition of a "successful dribble"...

Pretty sure just running 3 metres with the ball or something counts as a successful dribble in most stats.

Some interesting stats for this one. I don't think we played as well as the stats (or Marc) suggested and I am surprised to see Truro with a lower xG considering they missed a free header from 6 yards out, hit the post and forced Morris in to a good stop from the edge of the area around the same time. The Tyler Harvey unmarked header was apparently only a 0.13 xG chance...

xG: 1.36 - 0.84

Passes: 386 - 296

Duels: 41% - 59% - Can't imagine we've had many lower duels win % than that

Crosses (Accurate): 8 (3) - 10 (3) - Can only find a couple of games where we've recorded less crosses

I agree - this has not helped my faith in XG! That header was a sitter. 

Must be a relatively high long ball stat as well - 71 - which made it such a scrappy game.  But needs must. Truro pressed very high and aggressively so it was the best tactic I’m sure. But those long balls had to go to chest / feet as Truro were utterly dominant in the air. One area in which we do miss JP9 

@calvertskans Since we dropped back down to the National South, our average duel win rate % is actually 42%, with the lowest being 32% against Maidstone at home last season, and highest being 61% against Horsham at home last season.  Average opponent duel win rate % in that time is 37%.  During our second season in the NL our average duel win rate was just 36%!  This season it's 50% average for both us and the opponent so far.

@westsussexwanderer I have different stats for duels over the last 2 seasons. I think Sofascore uses a slightly different method as other stats sites can have "neutral" results for duels, whereas Sofascore shows either one team or the other as winning a duel.

I can see duels % as:

25/26 - 52.8%

24/25 - 53.8%

And so far this season I see us at 50% exactly.

The Sofascore app and website display different stats it seems! Website uses the "neutral" duelds system, whereas app uses the either/or system.

@calvertskans Interesting.  Could well be that I'm calculating wrong, but I'm taking the raw values from Sofascore for total & won duels for both Ground and Aerial from every match, adding them together to get total duels and total duel wins for the season and showing as a %.  This is what I come up with (see attached).  I've actually been putting a matches and stats report together using Claude AI for my own records, so I might start another ongoing thread with interesting (to some at least!) snippets from that.
