A first midweek game of the season awaits as we welcome Slough Town to Meadowbank tomorrow evening. The Rebels have had a similar start to us as they sit on 1 point after the first 2 games as well.
Marc mentioned that Annesley and Norville-Williams are still a few weeks away while McManus and Pybus may return next week. Marc also mentioned in the post-match at the weekend that Luke Moore will be unavailable for the game.
Predictions:
Dorking 2-1 Slough Town (Rutherford, Craig)
1,094 att.
Foulkes
Camp Craig Francomb
Muitt Taylor Gallagher Lewis
Carter
Rutherford Prior
Subs: Sullivan, Storey, Saunders, Vincent, Hebert, McShane, Lawrence
Much better performance but we were helped by Slough being absolutely awful and playing a really high line for some reason. Clearly they didn't do their homework.
Average positions were interesting to see when comparing to the Hampton game as you can see Camp and Francomb/Vincent were much deeper against Slough. The average position was well in to the opposition half for the game on Saturday but it was much more conventional this time around.
Storey looked great and I though Vincent was excellent in that left of the back 3 position. You can see why he played a lot at left back for Woking last season. He might have to keep playing there though with the injury to Francomb.
Some stats from the game:
Possession: Dorking 61% - 39% Slough
Shots (OT): Dorking 13 (3) - 6 (1) Slough
xG: Dorking 1.95 - 0.51 Slough
Top Performer: Jimmy Muitt [8.5]
It just felt like every time we were in posession we were on the front foot, there was a lot less 'backwards and sideways'. We played to go forward and get goals.
