Probably a bit early after last nights debacle, but have any pre-season games been pencilled in yet.

I'll have a Guinness

Fortunately Barnet have been promoted to Football League, so intend to go there with Crawley.

Just seen Barnet have announced their pre-season fixture against Wycombe which will be played in front of fans and that's on a Tuesday night, so I'm not sure why we're any different

Quite.

And for a club that was so vocal about 'let fans in' during lockdown,  it is disappointing that we agreed to it really.

As I said before, will find another game to go to on that date instead.

Clubs should bear in mind though, it's not a good look to turn support on and off like a tap.

Behind closed doors friendlies are what you expect from out of touch Premier league clubs tbh.

My guess is Barnet thought crowd would be low, and wanted to save on stewarding costs. I expect we agreed as only offer of playing EFL club, as none will want to play on our pitch.

Are you going to the Crawley Palace friendly this year? I am not as it getting rather boring seeing the same opposition 3 pre-seasons in a row, and they using us for shooting practice! Also local Palace fans buy home tickets and then stand on the home terraces wearing their Palace shirts cheering every goal, so atmosphere poor. Going to go to all three Dorking home friendlies instead as very good deal.

Yes, will be going along - went to it a couple of seasons ago (was 4-0 up at HT), but didn't bother last year for the same reason as you mention (the repetition) (and Palace were 4-0 up in under 30 mins)

Will go this year as it's a Friday night, so can still watch DW on the Saturday too.

Totally understand Crawley fans being fed up with Palace in the home areas, but the answer is for Crawley to give Palace a bigger allocation - the number of seats available to away fans in particular (one block in a long stand, which also has 20+ pillars along the front) isn't really all that great.

It will sell out of course, but if I had any sway (I don't!) I would give Palace fans half of the East Stand to be honest.

As you say , seating allocation is small, but like Dorking, probably half the capacity is terracing. Also Dorking gives a small seating allocation to away fans too.

The East Stand holds 2000, and the away terrace holds about 1500 so giving Palace half the East Stand as well gives the away fans an allocation of 2500, about 45% capacity (5500), something no sensible club would allow! The away terrace could be segregated to allow home fans half, but that has only been done once.

Dorking give a piffling allocation of seats to away fans since we returned to the NLS - 3 rows, and a chunk of those are for visiting directors

When we host the likes of Torquay it's just not enough and away fans try their luck at nicking season ticket holders seats on the 'home' side of the gangway.

As for Crawley, it's totally up to them what they allocate, but you can't blame Palace fans for going in home sections when tickets are totally on general sale and the away end sells out to Palace season ticket holders within a couple of hours. You would hope Palace fans go in the seats and are discreet, but its only a friendly at the end of the day.
