Dorking Wandering
The Dorking Wanderers FC Fans Forum
I predict it’s going to be the following:-
Luke Moore
Barry Fuller
Niall McManus
Rhys Murphy
Bobby Joe only kept on because he is a coach.
I am not going to count anyone under 23 as they don’t count anyway.
@dorkingtyke I’m always checking the site to see what people think but while your son is a player you can’t comment particularly about other players and that isn’t appropriate. I am now free to say what I feel and we have had a tremendous journey with Dorking but over the last two years it is loosing its momentum. The family club had gone. The team has lost its rhythm and playmakers. Players are now individuals doing their own thing. The style of play has gone. Central midfield going out wide to have three players out wide each side and nothing in the middle makes no sense. When we loose the ball we are wide open. Agreeing back three. I will mention my opinion of midfield separately but no playmaker a defensive one who can’t distribute and two players who want to carry the ball themselves and one loosing it most times doesn’t work. But they are constantly called the MOTM. Come on intelligent football people. Why do you thing Briggs made the decision to leave?
@dbriggs That’s very interesting Derek, certainly puts a different perspective on things. Will be very strange seeing Matt turn out for another club next season, certainly if it’s another NLS team. I didn’t know he lived that far away, so makes sense to find a club a bit closer
No one in their right mind would stay on if they were **** * ******* ** (when they were injured) and take a . That is just being mugged off. His game time has been limited as well and we all know he wouldn’t be being benched like this at another NLS club.
On the central midfield situation. I think your point is that having two ball carriers in Josh Taylor and Charlie Carter doesn’t work. You cannot have Carter and Taylor in the middle together unless you have a Defensive central midfielder behind or a back 4.
In my view Taylor is a back up for Carter. Taylor doesn’t have the goal threat and doesn’t score enough to merit his position in the team ahead of Carter. And you need to pick between them.
If the team still wants a back 3, then you need a Pybus or someone like that partnering Carter in the centre.
Playing McManus as a wide midfielder is absolute madness, he is a central defensive midfielder and should be used only as cover for Pybus.
I like that in central midfielder we have a quality player like Carter as a central midfield threat. But it’s too open with Taylor in there as well, when Carter is so attacking you need a Defensive midfield partner next to him.

@jacksonfairweather you get it exactly what I am saying. It is just footballing sense but many don’t see it. The midfield is the problem along with ageing defence.
@dbriggs I wish you would. Alas, your post has been edited beyond recognition so I cant agree or disagree 🤣
All of the players (and Dukesy) moving on have made terrific contributions and put in terrific effort to the club over the years. I can honestly say I have enjoyed watching and supporting all of them on their journeys.

@gary-munnery can I make it absolutely clear on here that Dorking offered Briggs a contract but he turned it down. You need to understand the dynamics in the club. Every player was offered * **** ***** ** ** ** and most accepted. Dorking *** * * ***** ******** *. Briggs will not be at Horsham as he lives north of Oxford but will probably be playing against Dorking next season as discussions with other clubs have started. This is a Briggs decision not a Dorking decision. And for the record Dorking * ** * with their most influential player over the last 10 years * *.

I am not sure why my message has been heavily edited as they are facts. Or do you want me to post them on social media instead of this forum where they will be seen by everyone?
From the Moderator Team:

We do not think it appropriate for details of private contract negotiations to be discussed publicly on the Forum. Discussions on the Forum have always been constructive and respectful, and ultimately supportive of the Club. Let's keep it that way!

Top scorers across all of step 2, imagine how many goals we would score if we had a good midfield!
🙃 🤣
@baggy @Moderator team My post was polite, accurate, did not contain any swearing or abuse and did not reveal the financial details of anyones private contract negotiations, however has been censored heavily to hide certain facts about the club in general. These subjects surely should not be modified?
Heard on the grapevine that goalkeeper Magnus Norman has also been added to the released list.
We will never know if he would've been any good
Good decision by Dorking to let Fuller, BJ Taylor & Murphy go - no brainer really in my opinion but not sure how McShane & Moore survived the cull - waste of a space in this squad.
Not totally convinced it was the right decision to let Briggs go (albeit whether by his choice or force) - whilst I don't think he's had the impact this seasons as previous seasons, he still offered something very different to the team in my opinion when he has played this season, especially off the bench when they needed someone to turn the legs on and run in a straight line.
I personally think the priority should be finding another CB & CDM. Tony Craig was wonderful at times this season, but his declining athleticism has cost us heavily at times and will only get worse now. If he continues to play I think he needs to be partnered with someone with a bit of speed and not left on his own.

I personally think they both add a lot to the squad and the club overall as being 'true Wanderers' - give everything to the club, motivate younger players etc etc.
Might be that Moore in particular is just used on the bench and comes on whenever we need a 'pain in the arse' to hold onto a win or to rough up the opposition a bit.
McShane I think could still do a very effective job - have to remember how long he's been out so we might see him back to his best next season - we shall see.
@adeb If Luke Moore is not one of those with a contract running to 2026 or 2027, then retaining him does not make any sense. Is he going to disrupt the game at aged 37 as a DM at the level needed? No chance...Smacks of sentiment.
Also if its my money paying these players. McShane is not going to get a place. Purely positional wise, where does he fit? We already have old legs in Prior. We cannot bring him on with Prior on the pitch at the same time, and he sure is not a replacement for Prior. So where does he fit? Answers on a postcard for this one too.
Its a ruthless game. If you want to be sentimental though that is up to you.
Unfortunately he has not gone far enough for a third season running.
But its recoverable if some of the sentimental extensions get loaned out to the lower divisions and we bring some new younger lads during the first 1-2 months of the season.

Spot on, hopefully McShane and Moore go out on loan if the reason they have stayed is because of contract lengths and they can’t be disposed of. We need to rebuild this upcoming season as likely will be 2/3 senior players out the door retired end of 25/26 season who could pass on a great deal of knowledge to youngsters this season if given the chance.
