A first away game in 35 days as we travel to Kent to face old rivals Maidstone United. The Stones currently sit 13th in the league on 45 points and are winless in their last 5 matches.

No players are expected to return for this one as Marc announced that Pybus and Carter are still "2,3,4 weeks away". Dan Gallagher has also been added to the injury list and is expected to miss out this weekend. No news yet on any arrivals ahead of this weekend either.

Predictions:

Maidstone 0-0 Dorking

2,191 att.

                           Foulkes

          Camp        Annesley     Norville-Williams

  Lewis         Knight            Sidwell            Vincent

                           McManus

                   Prior           Rutherford

Subs: Craig, Francomb, Grass, Moore, Sullivan, Straker, New?

OMG - This on twitter:

Can’t quite believe what I’m reading here… Torquay United played away @ Eastbourne today, they lost 4-2 against the 23rd placed side. On the way back, the Torquay players complained that the TUFC Supporters Club coach had more leg room. The coaches were then swapped over, to suit the players.

Yeah I saw that, quite unbelievable. Also apparently the supporters coach was not organised by the club. I’d have been livid if I was an away fan at the game and someone agreed to that without consultation with the fans

Point very well earned, but yet more difficulties now with Niall out, Dennon suffering with his groin, and both Brennan and Knight facing suspensions.

On a positive note, Kai was insanely good, quite obvious within seconds of getting the ball he is levels above.

@adeb I’m really looking forward to seeing Kai on Saturday, if he doesn’t get crocked on Tuesday 😂

I saw some of those comments on X you had about Dorkings travelling support , what is up with some people

Just found those comments on X. Demented! Yes, was there watching DW with my son both 4 and 8 years ago.

Who cares if someone has been a fan 3 years, 2 years or even started this season, if they are going home and away then they are more than welcome to join the journey, and help support the club.

New or old, occasional or regular, all (non-dickheads) are welcome at DWFC.

You do occasionally get resentful fans of other clubs who maybe aren't currently having a successful spell, with various digs about clubs who might be more ambitious, dynamic, innovative, forward thinking, modern etc. Heard it all before tbh. To be competitive these days clubs need to embrace all sorts of modern practices, have top notch marketing, comms and social media, and appeal to the broadest range of people. Sometimes be bold, brave. Work tirelessly sometimes at the smallest aspects of their football clubs. Not everything pays off, but only through trying, working hard and being relentless will clubs thrive and succeed in these most competitive of leagues.

Ignore the critics and doubters and believe in what is being built here.

Agree with that sentiment but what exactly were the comments?

It was a couple of Chelsea/Kingstonian fans basically implying Dorkings fans were glory hunters and asking who they supported a couple of seasons ago

Probably shouldn't have bitten, but drives me mad when people go on about 'glory hunters' - especially in the context of DWFC.

What do they expect, crowds to remain the same regardless of league position, ground experience and community feeling? They'd be the first to scream that we 'have no fans' if that was to happen.

And honestly, there are SO many at this club who have been watching for years, some who have played for the club, some who weren't even born when we were formed, and many others who just love the DWFC experience - all of whom (as David says) are welcome at this wonderful club.

From the game, let's start with some positives:

  • Other results were great for us and we actually extended our lead at the top
  • A point away at Maidstone, regardless of their form, is always a good result
  • Foulkes and Norville-Williams were superb. Annesley and Sidwell very good as well.
  • Enslin looks a real talent
  • Prior scoring goals again

Now the negatives...

  • The injury/availability situation is absolutely critical now.
  • Marc mentioned in the post match that there will be no new signings, which is really dissapointing. Surely we need to recall the likes of Tauta-Caballero, Saunders, Gale, etc? Jake Lawrence is in the final week of his Bognor loan I believe.
  • Thought the starting wingers were really poor, albeit with Vincent massively out of position.
  • Even before the red card, that George Knight cameo wasn't great. Don't think there will be much chance of appealing that red either after watching the replay back.
  • Away form this season is a big concern with just 4 wins. We're 11 points clear at the top of the home form table but down in 16th in the away one!

Tuesday is going to be extremely tough and I would once again bite your hand off for a point right now. Really need to focus on winning all those remaining home games and avoiding defeats away at Torquay, Weston, etc.

Stats:

Possession: Maidstone 54% - 46% Dorking

Shots (OT): Maidstone 14 (5) - 14(5) Dorking

xG: Maidstone 1.48 - 1.18 Dorking

Top Performer: Louie Annesley [8.0]

This.

And saying where were our fans at a pre season friendly against them in 2013. Laughable!

Tom mentioned his concerns about away form, and agree need to keep getting draws at our rivals and picking up the odd win when we can.

Interestingly, Horsham's form is almost an exact opposite. Top of the away table and only 17th at home. I know what option I would prefer and it is not Horsham's.
