After 3 points on Saturday, we're on the road again as we face Hornchurch. The Urchins currently sit top of the league unbeaten on 16 points.
Marc announced in his update that Luke Moore returns to the squad for the game and that Annesley and Norville-Williams are both relatively close to a return, while McManus and Francomb remain a few weeks away. He also mentioned that a couple of players are missing through illness and Seb Tauta-Caballero has joined Leatherhead on loan.
Predictions:
Hornchurch 1-1 Dorking (Taylor)
826 att.
Foulkes
Camp Gallagher Storey Vincent
Muitt Taylor Carter Lewis
Prior Rutherford
Subs: Sullivan, Craig, Pybus, Saunders, Moore, McShane, Lawrence
It is not our fault if their floodlights aren't all that, what a lousy excuse. If there is a lighting issue then the home team should change kit.

@dorking-eagle I don't think that has come from the ref or Hornchurch, I think that is Marc that doesn't want to wear the black kit at night
I am surprised it's pink though. Wouldn't an orange shirt in comparison to the colour of the OLBG be better
I'll have a Guinness
@steve1966 💯 and considering pink could be a slight clash with the red. Wonder how many times we will wear it this season
Have a vague recollection that years ago I was told Marc was colour blind. Maybe that is a contributer too?
I did get the white one this season (what we call in our house 'the Palace one'!) and would still like to see it worn now and then in competitive action!

@dorking-eagle I got the white it is my favourite out of the 4. I reckon Chelmsford away will be the first time we see it worn in a competitive game
Hornchurch 0-2Dorking Wanderers(Rutherford,Muitt)
Same lineup as Saturday
Strange game, really bright starts to each half, we were very physically aggressive, to the point that Hornchurch were rolling around at every opportunity to try and get our players booked.
Thought a draw would have been a fair result.
7 games in, and the star games were the homes against Slough and Tonbridge. Let's home for another dominant home game vs Totton on Saturday
I am not a fan of the '2 week break from the league' talk, in reality the Cup is more important than ever for the club this year, as a big financial boost from a decent run would go a long way.

It would have been a different game had one of those chances in first 20 minutes gone in. But we never sustained the pressure. I agree a draw would have been a fair result: both sides created 3 or 4 decent chances and they put one away. But I was expecting a bit more from a team with their recent run. Special mention to Dan G, who was immense, before being subbed to avoid a brewing red card. No further injuries is a bonus, assuming Foulkes is ok.
Needed one or two of those early chances to go in as it felt like we were always a bit limited and a bit tired for most of the game last night. Surprised about how much talk there was about players being tired and not fit just 7 games in to the season when the big focus in pre-season was on fitness...
I also found Marc's post match interview really interesting last night; mentioned how we were short of options up top and on the wings but we haven't had a single injury to either of those areas this season so far. I appreciate that a fully healthy Rutherford would have probably made the difference last night and that Hebert also missed Saturday with illness but apart from that we have pretty much had a full strength attack to pick from all season.
It was so clear that there is not enough depth to the squad in the Summer and it is showing to be true just a few games in to the season. We desperately need a signing or two in attacking/wide areas.
Whilst it is 7 games in, you could add that there were 6 pre season games on top of that too
I am not a fan of the talk yesterday (can't remember if it was the pre or post match interview) about the 2 week break - fair enough it's a positive there isn't a midweek game between Totton (h) and Wingate (h) but any suggestion the cup is any sort of week off isn't a great mindset when we could really do with a cup run
On a separate note, I really don't like the dogs abuse some 'fans' were giving JP9 on social media last night - no idea if fans were egging each other on to criticise him on the terrace last night, but it was most uncalled for, for a player who worked his socks off all over the pitch in a very physical game.

@dorking-eagle To be fair to Marc, he did say a "two week break from league action" which is technically true. Playing lots of league games when you're not playing well isn't great as you end up losing too much ground in the promotion race. Preparing and playing a one-off cup fixture is a welcome change.
On the subject of Prior, I thought he was really poor last night but he is one of only two players to start all 7 games so far and he clearly can't handle that at his age now. It further emphasises the need for more attacking options in the squad.
I do think Prior has had a quiet start to the season and been ineffective in some of the games. Maybe his age is catching up with him it is a shame we dont have any other strikers to bring on / start over him when he is in need of a rest.
