Dorking Wanderers enter the Trophy in Round 2 proper (along with all other step 2 sides), and the draw for it is on Monday

If the format follows as per last season then the region we would be in for Round 2 will be a pretty huge one across the whole of the South

This would potentially mean facing one of the long list of teams below:

Sittingbourne or Cray Valley PM

Real Bedford or Ashford United

Brentwood Town or Welling United

Leatherhead or Canvey Island

AFC Sudbury or Leiston

Wingate & Finchley or Cheshunt

Stanway Rovers or Harrow Borough

Tilbury or Hadley

Waltham Abbey or Chatham Town

Billericay Town or Bishop's Stortford

St Albans City or Hanwell Town

Burgess Hill Town or Folkestone Invicta

Walton & Hersham or Hendon

Bracknell Town or Banbury United

Basingstoke Town or Dorchester Town

Plymouth Parkway or Poole Town

Wimbourne Town or AFC Portchester

Gloucester City or Havant & Waterlooville

Farnham Town or Bishop's Cleeve

PLUS the whole of the National League South(24)

Had a look at the 'Southern' teams in last years 3rd round...

Braintree were South (so all of Essex)

Biggleswade (near Bedford) was South

Had a look at the 'Northern' teams in last years 3rd round...

Kidderminster (South west of Birmingham) and Solihull Moors (South East Birmingham) were put in the North

Peterborough Sports was put in the North

Boston United was North

Leamington (near Warwick) was North

-----------------

Based on that from last year, I would guess that -

Hereford, Gloucester City, Brackley Town go south

Alvechurch, Anstey Nomads (Leicester), Telford, Harborough Town, Kidderminster Harriers, Leamington, Peterborough Sports, Tamworth, Solihull Moors, Boston go north

------------------

I suspect the FA won't do the split and the ball numbers until Monday morning, but I would my guess is that the South Region would comprise:

(Step 1)

Forest Green Rovers

Boreham Wood

Southend United

Wealdstone

Eastleigh

Woking

Brackley Town

Yeovil Town

Sutton United

Braintree Town

Aldershot Town

Truro City

(2)

Hereford

Bath City

Weston super-Mare

Dagenham and Redbridge

Dorking Wanderers

Dover Athletic

Ebbsfleet United

AFC Totton

Hemel Hempstead Town

Horsham

Maidstone United

Worthing

(3)

Cheshunt

Brentwood Town

Hanwell Town

Plymouth Parkway

Gloucester City

Walton & Hersham

Chatham Town

(4)

Harrow Borough

Leatherhead

That would however mean 35 teams in the Southern region (!) so it's not scientific (!!)

Thanks Ade

Hereford would be very high in my wish list

I think we will lose Brackley or Hereford from the last list to even it up

Personally I would add Leamington from the north to even things up!

I think Leatherhead at home would be the best possible draw we could get. We should obviously be beating any step 4 team at home and it would also be one of the bigger crowds we could probably expect for this stage of the competition.

Aside from that (or Harrow) then any of the step 3 clubs at home. Just as long as we avoid some of the regular opponents such as Boreham Wood, Aldershot, Horsham, etc.

I'd guess the fixtures with the potential for the biggest home gate would be Southend or Woking at home.

Aldershot fans probably have Meadowbank fatigue. And Sutton don't travel in vast numbers.

Leatherhead deserve a big National League side at home.

Definitely don't want to be facing Leatherhead at the moment, they're in the best form they've been in for years. Would take any new away day like Hereford or Gloucester (preferably Hereford as they're in poor form at the moment)

7 potential new grounds there for me (not inc Totton which is a given for later in the season)

Anything in particular you fancy Steve, or just the easiest new ground?

I'll go wherever, as Palace play at home on the Sunday that weekend. Truro would be a killer to be honest, but I do enjoy a Cornish pasty.
