Dorking Wandering
The Dorking Wanderers FC Fans Forum
Dorking Wanderers enter the Trophy in Round 2 proper (along with all other step 2 sides), and the draw for it is on Monday
If the format follows as per last season then the region we would be in for Round 2 will be a pretty huge one across the whole of the South
This would potentially mean facing one of the long list of teams below:
Sittingbourne or Cray Valley PM
Real Bedford or Ashford United
Brentwood Town or Welling United
Leatherhead or Canvey Island
AFC Sudbury or Leiston
Wingate & Finchley or Cheshunt
Stanway Rovers or Harrow Borough
Tilbury or Hadley
Waltham Abbey or Chatham Town
Billericay Town or Bishop's Stortford
St Albans City or Hanwell Town
Burgess Hill Town or Folkestone Invicta
Walton & Hersham or Hendon
Bracknell Town or Banbury United
Basingstoke Town or Dorchester Town
Plymouth Parkway or Poole Town
Wimbourne Town or AFC Portchester
Gloucester City or Havant & Waterlooville
Farnham Town or Bishop's Cleeve
PLUS the whole of the National League South(24)

Well I'm certainly up for it. It's a big game for us really, first step in what is a very important competition to the club (Marc always bangs on about Wembley and cup runs!). If we get a run to Wembley I want to be able to say I was there for each round..
On that basis alone it's worth going - a cup game that's important - I'll have some of that!
And get a win and we could be heading to....I dunno...Forest Green - or Sutton?!
Not really FA Trophy related but Weston-super-Mare beat Aldershot in the FA Cup 1st Round on Saturday meaning our league game against them on 6th December will almost certainly be postponed. Only way it might go ahead is if Weston get a decent TV game and they decide to put it on the Tuesday night or something but that feels unlikely as there were no Tuesday games in the 1st Round.
If Dorking and Weston both lose their respective FA Trophy games next weekend then the free weekend put aside for the next round of the trophy could be used for the rearranged fixture.
Good spot Tom

Weston-super-Mare drew Chelmsford away so can't see that being televised, and expect our game on 6th December to be postponed.
Weston have already confirmed on Twitter that our match on the 6th is now postponed. They also have a league game on the 9th so it can't be re-scheduled for that date either. In fact, Weston have a midweek game pretty much every week until Christmas now.
The free FA Trophy weekend (13th) seems likely should both us and them lose next Saturday. The only other free midweek between now and Christmas is Tues 16th.
2nd December is actually an option as well but I doubt Weston would be thrilled with that
Looking at the fixtures I see Eastbourne were due to play at Chelmsford on December 6th.
Maybe our game away at Eastbourne that’s scheduled for February 24th could be brought forward
I'll have a Guinness

That would be ideal if Eastbourne were up for it.

3 games against Eastbourne in 21 days would be very depressing

Would rather go to Eastbourne on a Saturday then the Tuesday night when it’s scheduled

@steve1966 Meh, I don't mind switching it up and having evening games against opposition when last season was a Saturday game.
@calvertskans yeah know what you mean Tom. But i can't drink as much on a Tuesday night, as I can on Saturday
I'll have a Guinness
Saturday and I get to enjoy the pier, Tuesday night and it's a straight in and out really.
Totally understand if the clubs think there will fan fatigue over the particular fixture 3 times in 3 weeks though!
EDIT - if as expected Alfie ends up being out injured until Christmas I wonder if we might not rush to fill a blank weekend and just save the fixtures we could move until next year when more likely to be at full strength? Also it gives the squad a much needed rest after a marathon run of 2 games a week?

@dorking-eagle This was my thought as well, I really don't get why we would want to play more fixtures than we need to right now.
I actually wonder if they are planning on moving the home Tuesday night game at the end of this month to that Saturday rather than the away one at the end of Feb. That would be more beneficial as would be the same amount of games but more spaced out.
Marc also mentioned the Weston game in the pre-match interview and mentioned Christmas fixtures so I wonder if it gets put on the 23rd?

That would be a better fixture move to be fair.

What do you think the attendance might be for that bearing in mind we are already at home on Boxing Day? My gut feeling is it would be very sparsely attended.
