Attention turns back to the league as we face fellow promotion rivals Ebbsfleet United this weekend. The Fleet, who sit 2 points behind us in 14th, are winless in their last 5 league matches but did beat National League side Solihull Moors to reach the first round of the FA Cup last Saturday.
Marc announced in his update that Charlie Carter has an unknown return date from his knee injury but Pybus, Gallagher and McManus are all not far from a return.
Predictions:
Ebbsfleet 2-2 Dorking (Rutherford, Muitt)
1,522 att. (195 away)
Foulkes
Camp Annesley Storey Norville-Williams
Taylor Moore
Muitt McShane Lewis
Rutherford
Subs: Craig, Francomb, Vincent, Sullivan, Hebert, Prior, Straker
If that is the team he plays you would be seriously concerned with the lack of running and lack of legs in CM.
Moore and McShane aren’t getting up and down playing both together is ill advised. We run the risk of being ripped up centrally on the transition with that combination. I wouldn’t start with either of those 2 in actual fact.
It was previously mentioned that Annesley can do a job as a defensive CM. I would be looking at that as an option. Can he do that Dan Gallagher role?
I see Ebbslfeet has had some draws at home against some decent teams so although they are on poor recent form, they are clearly are a match for anyone with home advantage.
Given what we are likely to put out my prediction is 2-1 to Ebbsfleet.
@jacksonfairweather I would say that Francomb is the more likely to start in that CDM role but I don't think it is as required when you play a back 4 compared to a 3. I wouldn't say Annesley or any of the other CM options have more or less legs in midfield other than maybe McManus.
McShane is an almost nailed on starter in the absence of Carter, unless Marc really plays around with different formations and wants an extra option in midfield like Vincent or someone. Also, a reminder that no player has more assists in all comps than McShane this season and only Rutherford has more total goal contributions (11).
Ebbsfleet (1) 2 Dorking W (1) 2 McShane, Rutherford
1,699 (240 Wanderers)
Ebbsfleet 1 Dorking Wanderers 1
Att 1350 (140 Wanderers)

First thought was 1-1 so sticking with that.
Lewis for us
1-1. Whereabouts are people heading before hand for a beer?
Just following up on Hemel's point of where people are heading before hand
On these away threads can we have a little details on visit? I'm not so lazy that I cant look on the away teams website but little tip/ hints would be great!
What the away end like? Is there an away end? Drinks and food etc and what the local area is like and if it really is walkable from local train station and all other sensible tip bits
thanks
Yep no probs.
For this one I will be driving there, and parking in one of the side roads near The Rose Pub (Rose Street, Station Road), as I understand it's only restricted (parking wise) Monday to Fridays, so its a free for all today.
My primarytarget is Northfleet Fried Chicken for a pre-match meal (assuming the one table isn't taken when it opens at 12.30!) but if not then Ebbsfleet Grill a couple of doors down looks like similar fayre (burgers and chips lol)
Incidentally The Rose pub is the one that the official Ebbsfleet FC website recommends for away fans, looks like a bog standard boozer
It's a 10 minute walk to the ground (downhill) from those food and drink options
At the ground there is a (grotty looking) cafe by the home turnstiles, a small club shop on the flashy stadium frontage if you want a programme, and for away fans this game is segregated, and we have half the open terraced end (Swanscombe end) but the forecast is dry so no probs
For anyone who can't stand for 90 minutes, don't worry as stewards look out for the elderly, those with walking sticks etc, and offer a seat across the away corner in the end block of their historic old wooden stand (which is quite admired by groundhoppers!)
It is an old school ground for away fans, no mistake but the stewards are friendly and there are a lot worse places to watch the Wanderers
COYW!

@dorking-eagle Just to add - parking is £3 (cash only) at the enormous Ebbsfleet International rail station car park - about a 10 minute walk away. Might be your best bet if you want something straightforward.
Absolutely, all tips are welcome on this forum Ade 👍 thank you
I park up the road as I want a pre match meal there anyway and it's free on street parking but there are of course other options.
Also opposite the ground near the petrol station is a Costa Coffee.
Below are some pictures of the ground from previous visits with DW...

I first visited this ground in August 1997 when Palace played a friendly here against Gravesend and Northfleet (the old name for the club)
Before that the club was known as Northfleet United
Interesting fact - this ground has hosted one football League match - Gillingham v Wrexham in March 1961, after Gillingham's ground was closed for one match as punishment for crowd trouble in a home game against Oldham earlier that season!
PS - The drum will be in attendance today 👍
