Back at Meadowbank as we face in-form Chesham United this weekend. The Generals currently sit 8th in the table on 52 points and have won 4 of their last 5 matches.
Marc announced that Dan Gallagher is the latest to be ruled out for the season as he has picked up a knee injury. Carter and Pybus might both return to the bench while McManus awaits results of a scan. There was no mention of George Francomb in the update though. Brennan Camp and George Knight start their respective suspensions.
Predictions:
Dorking 2-2 Chesham (Prior, Lewis)
1,712 att.
Foulkes
Francomb Annesley Norville-Williams
Enslin Sidwell Moore Lewis
F.Vincent
Prior Rutherford
Subs: Craig, Sullivan, L.Vincent, Pybus, Pinchard, Carter, Straker
I thought it was quite an interesting game (and the second half quite entertaining) - better than many seem to be saying elsewhere online.
Kai is real quality. Although we weren't at our best I never felt we weren't going to at least get a point. Agree with Bethdan - Chesham were better than a lot of their football - hoofing it away most of the time rather than getting it down and playing - which they were sometimes a dangerous threat doing.
I won't lie, I was gutted to see how despondent Marc was in the post match interview. And who can blame him - a whole teams worth of players injured recently (apart from a keeper) and the injuries keep coming game after game. I don't pretend to know anything about strength and conditioning, but wtf??!!
AND YET...you couldn't ask for a better set of results from other clubs!! Nobody else in the top 7 has won more than 2 of their last 6!!!
The Wanderers Gods are still helping us out - just indirectly!!
Get yourselves to Dagenham, Marc, Mick and the players will find a way to get a result - I firmly believe that. So much still in our favour, but all our support is vital, we need to keep squeezing out results and it can happen! A few hundred of us can make a difference! COYW!

Is Hebert srill out on loan? Would be a handy player to recall in Dennon's absence.
He played on trial for Charlton U21's (and scored in a 6-0 win over Swansea U21s) on the afternoon of Tues 24th Feb (then went to watch DWFC as a spectator at Eastbourne Borough that evening)

With the injury situation and the fact that now ongoing players are getting injured, serious questions need to be asked about what the lads are being asked to do every week and if this is in the best interests of getting results on the pitch at matchdays.
I have noticed that the older boys who have been at the club for a long time, and do less work, like JP and Moore are maintaining fitness levels to play. Perhaps loads need to be reduced immediately now to get boys back playing and stop them getting injured?
Marc White and the management team need to wind the necks in of the S&C coach and wholesale re-evaluate what the boys are doing on a weekly basis.
Lads are dropping like flies every week, no offence but that is a fact.
This is not normal.
Boys from leagues above are coming into the building and being crocked inside 5-6 weeks. The level of intensity of games at this level of football is not even that high. If you go to games in the leagues above you will see this. Players are playing 2-3 leagues higher 2 times a week for a season and staying fit. Its not normal, and it needs a wholesale review.
On the game, Chesham were very well organised behind the ball in the game. We lacked the aggression and finishing touch in the final third as you would expect. The main concern everyone has now is about how many more players are going to get injured or crocked as this will cost us promotion this season unless nipped in the bud. Getting through this situation is one thing, but more boys will be get crocked, unless wholesale changes are made to weekly training regimes of players.
@dorking-eagle unless fundamental changes are done now to what the lads are doing on a weekly basis, injuries will cost us going up this season. Necks need to be wound in, and fitness to play needs to be prioritised from now on out. We cannot continue like this.
Interesting game yesterday. First half, we looked like a team of strangers — which is probably understandable given the number of new players around the club. The clearest example was defending their first corner. I was too lazy to switch ends when the teams did, and I genuinely thought Prior was going to have a heart attack. He was shouting instructions about who was picking up who as the ball was coming in.
Second half was a totally different story. Massive credit to Sidwell — I’m not usually keen on giving Man of the Match to a half-time sub, but he’d have been my pick. Kai had a great second half as well. I was stood next to (I’m guessing) his mum and brother, who seemed to be fully signed up members of the Wanderers fan club — although his brother was laughing at how knackered he looked in the last 10 minutes.
I agree with others that we need to look at workloads and training. Are we creating our own problems by overdoing it? The “unlucky with injuries” line probably needs reviewing — I think this is about the third season in a row we’ve said that. It’s something that needs serious thought. We seem to have addressed pitch-related injuries with the stud changes — maybe training needs the same level of scrutiny?
At times we look like a boxer clinging on for the bell. This isn’t going to be as straightforward as the table suggests. Buckle up — we’re in for one hell of a ride.
On to Dagenham next week!
Just liatened to Charlie Carter's interview. He seemed positive as will need him. Going to miss Dennon and Alfie next few weeks, so sounds like Marc is going to get some of the Academy players to step up. Hopefully a few of those on loan will comw back to help our JP as looking sparse up front.
Agree @EpsomWanderer this is going to be a tough run it. And this season every team that has hit the top of the league has managed to implode.
Chesham looked one of the best teams at Meadowbank - they came to play football and were tough to break down. They probably shaded the first half too on chances. I thought Pinchard played very well - spread the play nicely and looked to get on the ball - but I agree we looked much better in second half with Sidwell on. Kai didn't have a great first half, and is not as defensively solid as Jimmy, but second half he was unplayable. Opponents will be doubling up on him for sure but if he can avoid the injury curse, he will be a source of goals for the rest of the season. Which is just as well, as it looks like Dennon and Alfie might be missing a few now. I don't know anything about workloads and training regimes, but find it baffling that there are so many non-contact injuries these days, with all the medical science available. Not just at DW either. But some players have always been more injury prone than others for sure.
It's going to be a case of grinding out some points now - almost all of our remaining fixtures are against teams in the top half of the table - and hoping that others continue to drop points. There doesn't appear to be one outstanding / consistent team in the league.
@baggy The form of those in the playoffs across the last 5 games has been very sketchy. Torquay have hit an awful patch of form. Then you look at Chelmsford who have picked up a few wins and sit just outside the playoffs with 2 games in hand over some of the teams above them. It is real tight again. Yet results continue to go our way so it is in our hands🤞
As others have said, tricky game against a different sort of side than we're used to. First half I thought they were probably the best footballing side to visit Meadowbank this season, but at the same time they were hugely negative throughout the game.
Thought Annesley and Norville-Williams were excellent again, as they are every week. Enslin got better and better throughout the game and everything good seemed to go through him. Good to see Prior regularly in the goals again as he now has 2 goals and 1 assist in his last 3 matches and is up to 8G 5A for the season now.
Definitely a point I would have taken before the game but maybe a slightly missed opportunity considering the upcoming fixtures and dropped points elsewhere. These new few weeks without Rutherford, Lewis, etc are going to be a killer. I am not sure we have the players in the academy yet to really deliver in this sort of scenario so I think we really need to be looking at another 1 month loan from somewhere. I believe Jake Lawrence's one month loan at Bognor is finished now so he should be back for this weekend at least.
Stats:

Duels Success: Dorking 61% - 39% Chesham - Our 2nd highest of the season
Top Performer: Kai Enslin [8.0]
I checked Bognor's website, and Jake Lawrence extended his loan for another month on Saturday. Hope there is a recall option, or we may have to rely on others to support JP or a short term loan. Charlie did well up front for a few games earlier in the season.
@crawleysth That is an absolutely insane decision by the club. We surely have to have a recall option on that...
Carter will obviously start up top with Prior this weekend but he won't be anywhere close to being able to do 90 mins yet so would have been a good opportunity for Lawrence.
I think Tauta-Caballero might have picked up an injury at Leatherhead over the weekend as well so can't recall him either.
Playing Charlie has a genuine No. 10 might be his best position, but agreed all reinforcements from loanees essential now.
On the Chesham stats, much closer on XG than I expected, given second half dominance. Having seen the highlights now, that chance at the end for Liam Vincent was a big one, as it seems live, and warranted much more than a .10 XG rating, which if I understand it correctly means a goal 1 in 10 times from that chance. Looked more like 50-50. If only that had gone in 😩
