The road to Wembley continues as we face fellow NLS side Bath City at Meadowbank this Saturday. This will be our 4th game against Bath in 2025 with the Somerset side currently sitting 18th in the league.

The injury news has become dire as we are without 8 or 9 players this weekend. Patrick Casey arrives on loan from Charlton but Jack Young misses the game after featuring for Farnborough in the previous round. Josh Taylor joins the long term absentee list of Rutherford, Norville-Williams and McManus, while Prior, McShane, Marquez and Moore are also likely sidelined.

Predictions

Dorking 2-1 Bath (Carter, Camp)

1,091 att.

                          Foulkes

             Camp      Storey     Annesley

     Muitt       Pybus        Gallagher      Lewis

                   Carter         Vincent

                            Casey

Subs: Craig, Francomb, McLeod, Sullivan, Hebert, Jacks, Straker

Very strange you’d bring on an unfit Macca over the youngsters agreed. I don’t think Marc really likes playing the kids. Thought Hebert did well yesterday but Marc singled him out in the post match with James. Also had a dig at Harrison for the FK but it flew in like a missile. I’ve not seen it back admittedly

Thought Marc was maybe a bit harsh on Foulkes for the goal, but Hebert was up again really strong full back and Muit was badly missed.

Re: the injuries, I don't think the theatre of rubber has contributed much towards the current crop of problems at all, but they do train at Meadowbank when Reigate Grammar is unusable due to the weather as I understand it.

I am still really gutted about going out the trophy. Mainly because of what it could have been. Really, really cheesed off about it to be honest.

I am not bothered if we were dominant, controlled the game, had the best chances, last third entries, crosses or whatever we were supposed to have been better than the opposition at this week. It was a cup game and I don't care if we had won 2-1 with the winner coming off a defenders backside. We are just garbage in the cups, year in year out. Sorry if that is entitled and sulky but for goodness sakes can we not ever go deep in a cup?!!! (and yes we have been massively spoiled with the two year joyous dream in the NL which hopefully we will return to asap)

@dorking-eagle With you there, David, as I'm sure everyone is at the club. Very frustrating.

I thought our penalties were'nt great, tbh, obvs bar the first 2. Once again, much the better side, but fall to a very, very limited (woudn't want to watch that every week) Bath City side.

Ho hum. Only another 10 months or so till the next cup game... 😐

Onwards and upwards tho - if we can still be in and around the play off places come Feb when players start returning, we'll be in with a good shout imo.

Agree with that Ade. I can always see that we try so hard to play with structure and quality passing, that still counts for a lot. I agree some of the teams we face play quite dreadful fayre to be honest. The Bath game was absolutely the shortages of players in all areas and being massively restricted with quality replacements as the second half went on.

Curious how it will go tomorrow night with largely the same squad plus Jack Young who was cup tied, I really hope this streamed team talk doesn't backfire.

Weston super Mare are a good side and I think we will struggle tomorrow. Will say more on the Weston match thread.

I'm not going to criticise too much as those injuries really do make a massive difference to the performance of the side. It was made even worse by Camp and Pybus and playing through illness and the likes of Carter, Casey, Annesley, Gallagher not being at full match fitness either.

I do think we're a winger short in the squad though. We had been lucky to not get an injury ti Lewis or Muitt until now and we looked a little flat without Jimmy on Saturday.

I think it might be time to have an uncomfortable conversation about Foulkes though. He is now up to 12 goals conceded from outside the area this season, which is almost 50% of his total goals conceded. That seems astronomically high for any keeper at this level.

He's a really good keeper at pretty much every other aspect but seems to have a real problem with shots from distance. He's conceded 5 direct free kicks in less than one and a half seasons...

I would imagine that Jordan Clark must be getting frustrated. Putting on a weak vet like McShane who is way past his best after his knee injury, who is injured as well, does not make any sense.

Also, you can tell that even though he is the head coach he is 3rd best below Whyte 'look a like' Tuvey and Whyte himself. Tuvey is a bit of a strange one given that Millwall's footballing philosophy is nothing like Dorking's. I do not think you need both Tuvey and Clark as serious coaches, pick one. I actually prefer how Millwall play to the current brand of football, so would not mind if they adapted to that style to get back into the NL and then into L2.

@calvertskans The reality is that teams target a weaknesses, and Foulkes is now being targeted.

Everyone will remember how Sam Howes is targeted for his particular weakness, which we won't go into but ultimately always means he is never able to settle as a number 1 anywhere.
