I first went to Dover's ground, known as the Crabble for a friendly against Palace in 1998, which was sparsely attended.

Most recently I went there in January 2015 for an FA Cup 3rd Round game. That game was literally Dover's 'FA Cup Final' moment, being one of only two non league clubs to make Round 3 that season, and to be drawn at home to a Premier League side, naturally it was a 6000 all ticket sell out (with segregation)

I also spoke to one current Dorking Wanderers fan today who was at the Crabble when the old Dorking FC played there in the FA Trophy in 1990/91, during DFC's 'golden spell' of football. Dorking lost 1-0 that day (it was in the 1st round proper, after DFC had got past (the old)  Waterlooville FC, Tooting & Mitcham and Gosport Borough in the qualifying rounds).

Anyway my memories relate to my visit in 2015. Apparently our visit next week should be unsegregated, and will be pay on the gate only.

It's a pretty good standard non league ground with cover on all four sides (most importantly at both ends). I also vividly remember it being up quite a hill!

Here are some pictures I took back then - it was Alan Pardew's first game as Palace manager, and Palace won 4-0 if anyone is interested!

Anyway, it won't be quite as rammed when we visit so we can hopefully change ends easily!

From memory I parked on street for free in Hillside Road (the name of the road is a big clue about the geography where the ground is!!!) and the pre match venue of choice is The Cricketers, a big pub on Crabble Avenue.

As I say it's up quite a hill so allow time and energy to make the summit lol.

I am rather looking forward to it as haven't been for a decade.

Incidentally in the decade since my last visit, Dover installed a new stand in the position of their old family stand, shown below, quite an impressive structure for non league, albeit very off centre on one side of the pitch

They were a Conference (National League) side for many years of course.

My further highly detailed research has ascertained that there is a McDonalds by a main road and roundabout, which may suffice if coming by car.

Just been to the ground, there is a walk around the neighbouring rugby pitch to the away turnstile rather than the circuitous route, so no mountain climb thank goodness, just lots of steps.
