Dorking Wandering
The Dorking Wanderers FC Fans Forum
A trip to Woodside Road awaits tomorrow as we face high-flying rivals Worthing. The Rebels currently sit one spot above us in 2nd on 45 points, albeit with a game in hand. Worthing are another side that host a few ex-Wanderers, including Joe Cook and Sam Beard, however Nicky Wheeler recently retired.
Not expecting much change on the injury front as Muitt, Moore, Rutherford, Norville-Williams and Taylor are all still expected to miss the game.
Predictions:
Worthing 2-1 Dorking (Carter)
2,721 att.
Foulkes
Camp Storey Annesley
Lewis Pybus Gallagher Vincent
Young
Prior Carter
Subs: Craig, Francomb, McManus, McShane, Hebert, Casey, Lawrence
Feels harsh to leave out Casey but I don't see how he gets in the side from the start with Prior, Carter and Young unless he decides to leave one of Gallagher or Pybus out.
Yep we need to maintain the consistency - firstly across the whole of a game, and then across successive games (and not just home ones) but we are definitely on the right track now.
Off topic, but have a look at the National League table - fascinating at both ends! Boreham Wood now top, which would be a great advert for ambitious clubs throughout the pyramid - how they have developed and improved that club no end,
...and at the bottom the usually consistent Gateshead rock bottom, even Truro are above them now, plus Sutton have drifted back into the relegation zone after having clawed their way out previously.
What a league that is!

I've just heard it was the constant abuse of our young players on the bench that sparked Marc's post match - singling out players for the way they look is only a very small step from all out racial abuse and should be instant bans for the lot of them tbh.
Absolutely.
It baffles me why a respected non-league club like Worthing wouldn't stamp down on this sort of thing. Have long been told that non-league is the more civisised side of the game and that it is important to clubs to cultivate a family friendly environment.
They can't deny they have a known element, they turned up randomly at one of our home games purely for a fight! And at a televised game earlier this season they surrounded the tv commentator position and sung abusive songs all game, which must have caused WFC a great deal of embarrassment.
WFC have worked so hard to transform the ground over recent years with that fantastic standing shelter as well as other improvements, the team is looking ready to give the NL a crack, but that element will give them a bad name up and down the country if they don't take measures to address it.
From their code of conduct:
Do not use foul or abusive language to players or other spectators.
Remember when you are supporting your team you are representing your Club.
About time the club hold these spectators to account.

After getting home at 1:15am last night, I have now had time to digest the game!
First half, they looked much more threatening going forward and after the first one went in after the fortunate deflection, it was a case where the floodgates could have opened. Remy was a danger all game until he went off. Yet, we hung in there and as others said the last 15 minutes of the first half we were dominating - Dennon had their right back on toast and unlucky to not go in ahead.
Yet second half a different story, and fair play to them they were the better side and probably would think they deserved the win. Yet, the ref and lino bottled not giving that a penalty in the last minute, a red card and a free kick was the safe (but wrong) option. The contact carried on into the box which by the letter of the law is a penalty.
Casey and Prior seem to have a great dynamic up top with the old big man / little man combo, which is very exciting. Little disappointed in Macca when he came on - ball seemed to bounce off him and couldn’t quite get a foothold. I’m not too disheartened though, on another night we nick that. Long season, onto Tonbridge on Sat.
Lastly, it’s a disgrace that Worthing let those kids run riot like they do by the barrier. They had no interest in the game, only on throwing abuse at players / lobbing drinks over Dorking fans and just trying to be intimating. There is no place for it in football, let alone non league where it’s meant to be a family friendly atmosphere, and seems like Worthing are getting a bit of a reputation for it, especially after the FGR game. Sad to see for what is otherwise a friendly and welcoming club that they have let that fester. Marc was 100% correct in his post match comments IMHO.
I remember after the Maidenhead game in the NL away (2023?), where it kicked off behind the goal, Marc swiftly despatched of kids like them trying to cause trouble like they are on Green Street or something pathetic.
