Back at Meadowbank for potentially our only home game in a 35 day period as we face Salisbury again in an FA Cup replay.

Marc was reluctant to reveal injury news again in today's update but suggested they took a "few" injuries on Saturday. Gallagher limped off late on so is likely to miss the game and Marc also announced after the game that Carter and Camp were unlikely to return. In a weekly update a couple of weeks ago, Marc did reveal that Francomb was back in 10 days which would suggest he may be in contention for a return to the squad in some form tomorrow though.

Predictions:

Dorking 1-0 Salisbury (Prior)

982 att.

                  Phillips

   Annesley   Storey   Vincent

Muitt      Taylor      Pybus    Lewis

                 McShane

           Prior     Rutherford

Subs: Craig, Francomb, Norville-Williams, Moore, Hebert, Sullivan, Straker

Having been the the vast majority of league grounds (including dozens of former ones) you would be amazed as what passes the requirements - athletics tracks, 3 sided grounds, stands with more pillars along the front than you would believe! Grounds at Bromley, Harrogate and Sutton who have had to rip up plastic pitches in a summer.

Meadowbank would certainly be quirky if taken to its full potential, and the biggest challenge would be that after 3 seasons it would have to include 2000 seats, but I don't think it is impossible to achieve on the footprint.

It would be quite sad if the club moved to some edge of town or out of town ground, then hundreds who walk to games stopped bothering to come. Moving to Meadowbank was absolutely huge in the growth of the support and the visibility of the club to the town.

Of course the fantasy wishlist of leases, pitches, floodlights and stands runs into the millions so let's enjoy the walk before we try to run!

What we need to remember is the actual footprint of the site is HUGE. There's more than enough room to shift the whole pitch many metres towards the park, meaning the away end could be rebuilt properly. Ultimately we could have a new Bank all the way across, a side terrace, a proper away end and a large seated stand all the way across where the Stonegate currently sits. Lots of money needed, sponsorship etc but really big potential.

High St location is sacred and critical to our future, imo.

Probably many years away but as David says, enjoy the ride!

I think it'd be crazy to get remove the huge block at the park end, the softplay building (inc cafe) and offices have huge potential and could be repurposed (soft play could become changing rooms on the ground floor, and bar on a new mezzanine floor) for example, club shop in part of the front ground floor SFA office - which would then enable the removal of the existing dressing rooms building, so that eventually a mega stand could be built along the Stonegate side. But anyway....

I thought that was outstanding tonight, very strong in all areas, and an entertaining game as well. Salisbury's tactic of playing the front 4 very high and longballing it to them made for a decent match.

@dorking-eagle 💯 was a good entertaining game with a decent turnout aswell. On another day Alfie would of been walking off with the match ball. Managed to get back home in record time of 51 mins too😆

Yes, I thought really good game and deserved win although Salisbury made it entertaining game. Went a bit quite after we scored our third, but Salisbury then seemed to get back into it when we went 4-1 up.

Hugely enjoyable game last night. Makes such a difference when teams come here to play rather than defend in a low block and play on the break.  Also a difference when Macca can get on the ball in space and pick a through ball behind defence - absolute quality, and a bit of variety to the usual diet of crosses.

Not sure that Aldershot will be as much fun, but here’s hoping.

Macca was fantastic I thought, and good to see Annesley get (literally) a couple of minutes in what has probably been a hard road back to fitness for him after a rotten injury.

Be interesting what they pitch the ticket pricing at - can't see it being £15 like the first two home cup games, £18 (our normal NLS price) would be fair, but might they have a £20 on the day price, which is quite a common ploy in the National League itself (in other words Shots fans would be used to buying in advance to avoid on the day increases)?

On a side note, I hope the supporter who had a fall in the Stonegate Stand at the end of the game is okay.

Marc seemed quite concerned with the Josh Taylor injury in the post match but we spoke to him as he got subbed off and he said it was just his ribs. Unless he's broken a rib or something, I would be surprised if he was injured for the Aldershot game.

If he is injured then we absolutely need to bring someone in as we won't get anything out of these upcoming games with our only midfield options being Pybus, Moore and McShane.

Side note - anyone seen an attendance for last night?

Looked like a solid 1100-1200 would be my guesstimate, it actually looked a lot more when loads of DW fans when down the west end for the second half (loads of them teenagers, which was what Marc called for in the pre match build up, and was great to see)

If I see a figure appear on non league matters I will let you know, otherwise it should appear in Salisbury's printed match programme in November

Tickets for the Shots game very reasonably priced:

  • Adult - £17

  • Concession - £14

  • Under 18 - £7

  • Under 8 - £4

  • Family ticket (2 adults & 2 children) - £38

Looking at highlights we were lucky early on, as Salisbury clearly scored (as Marc thought) with the ball hitting an inner part of goal and bouncing out. Assume linesman called penalty, as I don't think ref would have had good view.

Enjoyable evening and an entertaining game. Good home and away crowd numbers. Obviously Macca was brilliant but Alfie was on it too-got in so many times and could’ve had 4 on another day.
Was a bit worried about Briggs but we managed to keep him reasonably quiet.
I love that Storey song, first time I’ve heard it. He seemed to enjoy too when he came up for a corner in the first half

@crawleysth I didn’t spot it at the time but it was definitely a goal. Poor from officials 😀 Also, even on the highlights I couldn’t see a handball for the pen - anyone see it? Maybe our FA Cup luck has turned ??

@baggy Was the most stonewall pen of all time. The guy jumped up and punched the ball out of the air.
