The Dorking Wanderers FC Fans Forum
Seen a few comments about which teams will be in our league for next season so here are the confirmed teams for next season as it stands:
Dorking Wanderers
Weston-super-Mare
Hornchurch
Farnborough
Chelmsford City
Chesham United
Hemel Hempstead Town*
Chippenham Town
Bath City
Slough Town
Tonbridge Angels
Hampton & Richmond
Enfield Town
Salisbury
Horsham
Ebbsfleet United
*Hemel are the only question mark here. As it stands, my guess would be that Merthyr Town are placed in the National League North as they are fractionally more north than Hemel are. However, Hemel probably has better transport links so they could move Hemel to the NLN instead and put Merthyr in the NLS.
The other condition is Gloucester City. If they win the Southern League playoffs then it would likely be them who go NLN and Merthyr and Hemel stay south. Gloucester play Walton & Hersham in the playoff semi-final tonight so we will have a better idea by tomorrow.
Bit of a wait then. I thought it was usually mid June it was announced
That's Premier League. EFL is 26 June. Non league seems to be later.
Premier League fixtures are released 18th June 2025
Last year National League fixtures were released 10th July, this year it's 9th July so a day earlier.
Last year the August and September 'Premier League tv changes' were done on 5th July, so ahead of the National League ones.
I have my 2026 diary at the ready already lol. This year (hopefully) the added complication of Thursday night European Palace matches, so that should free up quite a lot of Saturdays for DW games.

6 game ban for MW
6 game ban for MW
Yes I noticed that. You have to be very careful what you say in the media.
I also noticed Horsham are looking at only having a squad of 17-18. I think they may struggle to compete if they get some injuries.
@crawleysth Oh absolutely, a comment said in jest months ago has now resulted in a ban. Unfortunately its the way the game is going these days constantly walking on egg shells with what you can and cant say.

And probably a longer ban than if he called a ref a cheat. Although disciplinary committee may have taken into account previous offences.
What did he do/say this time?
Throwaway comment about women drivers, not even on any sort of scale of dinosaur comedians 20 years ago.
The bit he was saying was actually about women refs and showing them more respect. It's so ridiculous. Someone is out for Marc I think.
Is this a brand new thing the FA are looking to punish?
I'm not going to go down the road of arguing the rights and wrongs of what particular thing was said etc, but you can bet at some point each season some under pressure 'star' managers in the Premier League (eg Pep, and previously Klopp) say some very contraversial things about refs, VAR, the unequal treatment of certain clubs etc, and don't get anything like a 6 game touchline ban.
(maybe they get big fines, which their clubs probably pay one way or another)
The owner of Forest, Fattypopolous as I call him says all sorts when things are going his clubs way, he even employed former ref Marc Clattenberg to compile a dossier of criticism of refereeing decisions against his club, he carries on as he likes
This is the classic 'make an example of Marc' to highlight there is a new thing they are clamping down on (just like that red card for booting the ball away at Oldham was in response to a brand new rule). Convenient that.
Only small silver lining is that we have Mick Daniels back in the dugout, a true Wanderer who knows his stuff and will carry out the instructions to the letter. We did well at the end of 22/23 and start of 23/24 when Mick stood in for Marc before.

@dorkingtyke Apparently it is for this: 'Obviously, more women refs now. So you have to pay a bit more respect. Do you know what I mean? You have to pay a bit more respect like help them park.'
Not a great joke (meaning lazy), but for sure not a 6 game ban. I also find it funny because isn't there a story about Marc driving into (I think Deano's) a hedge at someone's house?
This ban feels like an excuse to be punitive to Marc.
Yep Rob.
Marc speaks his mind on all manner of things, sometimes he says jokey things, it's his personality and makes him of great interest to a lot of followers.
The club would not have all the support it does without Marc being such an interesting character.
And no doubt a lot less followers buying shares in the club, subscriptions to BoA etc
He is box office at our level of football.
When DW play away I am certain it bumps up the attendance for the home club as people want to see Marc
Of course he also speaks honestly about things like refs, coaching badges etc, and so the FA will be gunning for him
Six matches is a complete joke for a throwaway comment. It feels like a vendetta by someone 'in charge'
I hope it fires us up even more. Us against the world.

It was on a question on his disciplinary record improving, and he joked about that too, which wouldn't have gone down with the FA either.
He said he had been banned from 12 stadiums the previous year, which beat his previous record.
I don't pretend that even every die hard DWFC fan loves every single thing Marc does or says.
He is however the person most responsible for the most brilliant level of football this town has ever seen.
We have has Stockport, Wrexham, Notts, Chesterfield etc down at Meadowbank, it has been a joy to see.
He has done that through a combination of sheer hard work, determination, personality, drive, whatever you call it, but brilliance.
He has done 10 times more for this town that Surrey FA ever will.#
Marc White is Mr Football and always will be round here.
The odd stray remark will never change what he has done, and any punishment will make him more determined to succeed.

@dorking-eagle 💯 Can see the ban fuelling his hunger even more for the season ahead/ his return to the dug out
Whoever came up with a 6 game ban for a lighthearted tongue in cheek comment has totally overreacted and doesn't know Marc like we do!
Someone who is very supportive of our womens team, who has built an inclusive club with every type of team, from the very bottom up.
It shows how out of touch some authorities are.

Is there no right of appeal?
