What a result this evening - 5-2!

Not sure when the draw is, there are still some game to be played over the next few days, so maybe after those are completed.

Great game! First half, DW were playing a passing game and Cambridge a long ball game and both teams made mistakes but very entertaining and open game.

Second half Dorking went 4 at the back and started hoofing it up top and lost the technical quality they had over Cambridge, weren't winning first balls and it was just very scrappy.

Last 15 mins and Dorking got a grip of it, passes clicked, team started having chances and 3 goals late in the game made it ours. Great night for the youngsters in what is their FA Cup.

The ground is brand new and literally a good step 2 one. The Main Stand would be step 1 level. That said apart from the seating deck it hasn't been internally fitted out at all, so everything was functioning from various portacabins (toilets, team changing, bar, catering, board room). Reminded me a bit of Hayes and Yeading, huge ambitious stand but not a quick of cheap thing to complete. They had so much space around the stadium too, and a big car park plus 3G practice pitches next to it. So impressive for step 4! The plans were on display for what was going into it and it's amazing how it ticks every box. Cambridge are very fortunate to have such an ambitious and brilliant facility, it should be a catalyst for them going up a couple of leagues over the next few years.

Hopefully a really big game in the next round, draw is today (Friday)

Based on last season, I would expect Round 2 to be just two regions for the whole country, North and South.

Teams in the South in Round 2:

Cambridge United

Southend United

Stevenage

Oxford City

Cheltenham Town

Forest Green Rovers

Barnet

Merstham

Colchester United

Plymouth Argyle

Bromley

Needham Market

Dorking Wanderers

Hertford Town or Gillingham

Walton & Hersham or Burgess Hill Town

Hamble Club or Swindon Town

Home tie ideally, giving us a good chance of progresion to the really big round 3 when we could get Arsenal, Palace, West Ham and so on...

Failing that, quite like a trip to Swindon, Gillingham or Stevenage.

BTW - lots of biggish names missing already - Aldershot, Woking, Sutton, Crawley T, Wimbledon to name a few.

Wouldn't Reading and MKDons be in the Southern section?

I would assume that will end up being Swindon, which is a cracking draw for the lads and everyone associated with academy.

It's a sign that the DWFC Academy is punching above the weight of the club that the youth team regularly make it through several rounds in this competition, well past where the academies at most clubs of our 1st team's level get to.

Crawley did not enter as they do not have a youth team or a Reserve Team for that matter! All they have is a loosely associated Foundation run with local school.

I tried to find some more info on Sid Moore that was difficult. Anyone know if this is the one? https://www.transfermarkt.com/sidney-moore/profil/spieler/1369490

@adeb

Born in 2009, turning 16 this year. He appears to be a huge talent and was reportedly highly rated during his time at Stoke as well

@adeb Redhill also has a brick wall around the ground, when I was there last season a lad was pushed into it and it looked serious but he was ok in the end.

Surely, all teams with these brick wall perimeters should be forced to take them down in memory of Billy Vigar. There is a duty of care here to the players safety.

This must have been quite a while ago, no?

The only pitch-side brickwalls at Kiln Brow are part of the dugouts. There's uniform mental railings around the whole pitch otherwise, and have been for several seasons now?

Swindon beat Hamble Club last night 6-0 so a trip to Swindon is up next in the Youth Cup

Hopefully a date is fixed quickly as there could be more supporter interest in this one
