Back at Meadowbank again tomorrow as we face Dover Athletic under the lights. The Kent side are currently 15th in the table on 38 points with just 1 win in their last 5 games.

No fresh injury news, but Marc did announce that Rutherford might be back this weekend for Farnborough and that Carter and Pybus are both a couple of weeks away.

Predictions:

Dorking 3-1 Dover (McCallum, Casey, McShane)

1,328 att.

                        Foulkes

         Camp       Annesley     Norville-Williams

Muitt        Gallagher          Sidwell             Lewis

                        McShane

              McCallum          Casey

Subs: Craig, Francomb, Knight, Vincent, McManus, Moore, Prior

Our home form is best in league so on paper this is a home win all day long. But as the game is played on rubber and Dover look like they have some lively forwards I reckon this could be full of goals. Certainly Worthing should have scored a few on Saturday.

Dorking 4 Dover 2 (Casey 2, Lewis, Muitt)

Not the goal fest I was hoping for and a pretty tough watch for the first half especially, but a solid effort in defence and a great three points. Especially with most other results going our way.

Whole defence played well and passed the ball out from the back really well at times. Good to see Knight get his chance and he added some steel in midfield plus a well taken goal.

Shame about Casey injury- how can a 20 year old pull a hamstring? - but Alfie sounds like he will be back for Saturday. Hope he does his stretches.

Tough game to watch, first half especially. Dover had a game plan and they executed it well, barely gave us a sniff and looked dangerous themselves at times. Great finish by Brennan and wonderful to see Knight get a goal after biding his time for a couple of game as an unused sub.
Attendance not bad for a damp evening , sure it’ll be busier next Tuesday night

First half a dreadful watch, combination of timewasting by Dover, and few, few chances. Just a scrap really.

Second half got some soft decisions, one of which a 'foul' on Muitt (Muitt literally pushed the ball past then ran into the player) led to a goal

Knight looked great. Shame about Casey's injury. Was all about the 3 points which were grafted for. Late bonus seeing Chippenham beat Torquay putting us on joint top points.

Attendance was only 906 including 98 away fans, that is a really poor turnout (of just over 800 Dorking fans) which confirms my earlier suggestion that we should have been offing a multi-game ticket bundle at a small discount (3 consecutive home games gave that opportunity) to boost the crowd numbers

Country Road was a bit of a wierd one, played just as Marc walked out so The Bank were singing Marc's song instead. Worth another couple of go's - got to give it a chance, but at the moment it looks as popular as when they started playing Elvis pre-match at Palace!!!! 🤣

Overall pleased that Marc is finding ways to consistently win with what we have.

@dorking-eagle Yes when they played Country Road there were quite a few puzzled faces in the Bank. I’d seen on X they were trialling it but needs to be timed to avoid Marc’s walkout. Not sure if it’ll stick around too long

Agreed with the aboves, poor first half performance but a stronger second 45 got us over the line and most importantly the 3 points. Torquay and a few teams below us slipped up so all in all a good night all round. Believe that was our lowest league home attendance of the season

Don't need to force these things - if you want people to start singing ahead of ko then I would suggest they play something like Seven Nation Army which is more catchy and less wordy. But not a biggie.

I am glad they still come out to Ain't no stopping us now, because that is tradition.

Yeah I don’t see Country Road lasting long. Something more lively required- maybe ask the players? The fans?

Just watched the BoA interview with P Mac and Marc was relishing a line up with him and JP up top and going long.  There it was last night.  Not pretty, but quite effective second half, although neither got much change out of that giant centre half. With weakened midfield, it does make sense for now.

Still think we should be getting more crosses over for the forwards to feed off, even if from deep, like the free kicks.  Agree @Dorking Eagle - Jimmy won that free kick right in front of us Not sure where the defender was supposed to go. But it makes up for Jason being assaulted every header he goes up for pretty much.

Yep that Country Road might take some getting used to 🤣 - but could work as a 'build up' before the teams come out to Aint No Stoping Us Now (didn't we used to come out to The Wanderer?)

Great win, messy stuff as others have said, different more direct style (understandable given we're missing the midfield creativity) but as others have said, so good to win when not at our best.

Shout out to Niall - our most underrated player, thought he as superb last night when he came on.

Oh and didn't see the Jimmy foul properly, but maybe that made up for the absolute stonewall trip on him late in the game (in the box).
